Metallica really do need to fuck off for a while, they're seriously over exposed in the UK to say the least. Look at their touring pattern for the last ten years:

2003:Download Festival, Reading/Leeds Festival & two dates at Earls Court

2004:Glasgow Green show & Download Festival

2005:Year off

2006:Download Festival

2007:Wembley Stadium show & Live Earth (also at Wembley)

2008:Reading/Leeds Festival, Radio 1 show & the 02 Arena

2009:8 date UK arena tour & Sonisphere

2010:2 arena dates in Northern Ireland

2011:Sonisphere

2012:Download Festival

2013:Year off

So yeah, looking at that it's a pretty uninspiring booking if Sonisphere UK have booked them. They used the gimmick of the big 4 for Sonisphere 2011 & the Black Album in full for Download 2012 so it's not like that's even something new for them to fall back on either.

I see what you are saying but for me the list above highlights why Soni have booked em. They shift tickets year on year and put on a consistently outstanding show. I was/am hoping for something more than just a regular show.

I saw em two years a ago 3 times in 2 months and didn't feel over exposed once.

There's something to suggest they may appear on these shores more than once, there's also the fact they say on the front page - 2 visits to Europe. Suggesting at least a brace of shows. Maybe a festival and Milton Keynes Bowl type thing? I don't know, guess we will know early next week.

But one of those visits is the already announced European shows, is it not? In that case, if they're telling the truth, they could only be coming back for one of Sonisphere UK or R&L.

I had thought that the European tour would be the whole of June - with Knebworth at the end of the tour, but perhaps you're right those six weeks could split in 2 I guess.

Have you been to Werchter? There's not a lot to do outside of seeing bands...

I disagree. I think '09 was a bit cack. I was ready to go back after a great time in '08 then the lineup never got good enough.

Fair enough, I wasn't agreeing, just pointing out what I took him to mean. I only really know who played the last two years, and both were pretty damn nice for my tastes.
