Bilbao BBK Live festival is proud to announce that Phoenix, The Lumineers, The 1975, Elliott Brood and Spanish bands Dorian, Los Enemigos and El Columpio Asesino are the first bands confirmed for the ninth edition of the festival, scheduled to take place from the 10th to 12th July, in the northern Spanish city of Bilbao.

3 day early bird tickets (incl camping) have now been released and are available for £76 + booking fee on Ticketweb and Eufest.

A growing festival, increasingly popular with international festival goers, Bilbao BBK Live continues enjoying performances by the biggest names in music. Previous editions of the event have seen performances by Radiohead, The Cure, Coldplay, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Depeche Mode,Janes Addiction and RHCP to name just few.

More acts will be announced very soon, so stay tuned to our website, Twitter and Facebook page.

Bilbao BBK Live is a three-day event that takes place on top of a hill surrounded by mountains offering spectacular views over the city of Bilbao. The privileged location of the site, its proximity to the city and beach and a late start of bands, allow festival-goers to make the most of this event and unique setting. Bilbao is a modern city famous for its architecture, museums and gastronomy, and its just a stones throw away from some of the best waves in Europe.

Bilbao BBK Live is above all a fuss free festival; with an uncomplicated layout, easy access from the city and airport, has proven to be a huge success with national and international festival goers.

I went in 2012. The festival itself was pretty good. The site was amazing, on top of a hill over-looking Bilbao. The campsite was an absolute shambles though. Basically, they shut off the whole hill for the festival, with the arena fenced off. There are a couple of decent campsites but by the end of the first day they were completely full and people were camping on any available bit of grass or tarmac they could find!

Hopefully this works. This is a picture taken from the top of the hill, showing where we camped and Bilbao below. By the end of the second day, the tarmac basketball court, to the right of the tents, was covered in tents, which was a shame, as we had a cracking 20-a-side game of multi-national football the day before!

When we went to BBK, we flew into Madrid and hired cars from the airport and drove up to BBK and back. It maybe an option to fly into Barcelona, hire a car there, drive up to BBK, then back down to Barcelona afterwards, to drop the car off, then coach from Barca to Beni? Failing that, then I guess your best bet would be getting a train from Bilbao to Barcelona, after BBK finishes.

Wondering if someone can help me out here!

Really keen to get to Bilbao this year - is there no closer airport than Madrid or Barca?

Was thinking about maybe hiring a car but do you have to be 25 for that? Also, I've never driven abroad before, would it be a stressful ride from say barca to Bilbao? Definitely veering towards hiring a car rather than bussing it!

Thanks for your help! Turns out theres direct flights straight from Edinburgh to Santander which is only 1hr from Bilbao! :)

Think we're going to stick with a bus transfer - only 6 euros each way.

We're still looking for an affordable hotel in the centre of Bilbao. Does anyone have any accomodation tips? :)

Also, we could only get the flights from Thursday-Sunday! Do you think this will be enough time to do some sightseeing too?
