No caravans or trailer tents

Maybe it's just to discourage old farts like me, but I've noticed an increasing number of festivals with a No Caravans or Trailer Tents rule.

I first discovered it when I went to the IoW Festival. In a way I could understand it for the IoW as there would be possible issues with the ferry and site access.

But now I see the Watchet Festival announced here has the same no caravans or trailer tents rule.

As the CV fields at Glasto get full there must be a fair number of people who would be affected by such a rule.

Any thoughts?

Yes but.... In my caravan I have a flush toilet, hot shower, a cooker, grill and oven, a fridge/freezer, a gas fire and blown air central heating. Show me the pre-erected tent that has that.

I'd be happy to pay a sum commensurate with the space i take up to have those creature comforts - especially at a festival in February.

It's probably a licence thing. Licensing authorities get very funny about campervans and caravans; they view all the gas and petrol in the campsite as serious fire hazards and put conditions in to mitigate eg their own field. If it’s going to be a struggle to put this infrastructure in place then it might be easier just to ban them.
