Camping nights clarification

Hi everyone, I was at my first festival last august in belgium(pukkelpop) with a friend, and we were surprised to discover that thr event was open the thursday night (the festival ran, like creamfields, from friday to sunday), and that you could arrive on the site and camp thenight before it started, and they even had a dj playing at the preparty. We now assume that this is a standard thing at three day festivals, but I'm unsure now since in the pastlineups I only see ~12 names playing the first day, compared to the 60 or so that play on saturday and sunday. What's up with that? Does the festival start late on friday and its supposed that you arrive there that day or the one before?

First Creamfields opens on the friday morning. Friday is silent disco only because of the noise polution to the locals

I'm sure I read somewhere that they're changing it this year and for the first time they will have an 'audio stage' or something like that on the friday, don't quote me on it though
