Gucci Piggy
I never mentioned bottles. Bottle water is the biggest rip off in the history of everything. It's tap water which someone has pretended to add magic pixie powder to. I refuse to ever buy bottled water. Unless I'm in Malta where you can get 50 litres for about 12 pence. So to answer the OP, try Malta.
the wonderwhy
But the entire thread is about bottled water. The boy wants advice on selling bottled water.
Gucci Piggy
I know, but he faces competition from non bottled water, which is free. Knowing about your competition is key young William.

FestivalFluids
All really helpful advice guys! What I'm really looking for is an expected traders buying price, as I'm looking to supply in bulk ahead of the festivals. They would of course apply a mark up before distributing themselves - £2 does sound a bit steep! But I wouldn't have any control over the final price unfortunately. I'd be keen to know if there are any traders on this forum with experience of sourcing bottled water. From conversations with a few it seems the most common source is Bookers/Costco, but at 50p per unit this is still quite expensive.

the wonderwhy
Factually incorrect. It is a little strange why British, and other people with good water treatment plants that allows for drinkable water, would buy bottled water to use in the house instead of using taps. However water bottling plants have far more processes than opening a tap and filling a bottle to sell. Most bottled water will be own composition, to achieve this they will use various forms of chemical treatment and filtration to remove/add the elements that make up the water. There are strict controls over the quality and chemical composition of bottled water that are governed by both EC and FDA standards which need proof of compliance on all aspects of the water, systems used to store treat and filter the water and of course all packaging. Bottled water is a huge industry worldwide which is a drop in the ocean in the UK because of the water treatment systems we have in place. Some countries are still a long way off having drinkable water supplies, including some of the more developed countries.

devilman
I take big bottles of water with me and keep them in my tent. They sometimes come back with me or sometimes I use them for swilling after brushing my teeth or sometimes I actually drink some if I'm feeling hungover. I don't let anyone see me though, that would be foolish. Outside and in the arena I find beer and cider acceptable alternatives but they cost a little more than water I think. Hope this helps. eFestivals
While totally unnecessary for consumption in UK homes, it is far from a rip off for those who need it when considering the amount of processing involved.Really? Then you'll have to explain to me how the processing involved makes bottled water so much more expensive to source, process and distribute than petrol.Oh dear. eFestivals
In turn cheaper systems can be offered to process petrol, as opposed to water for consumption.Complete and utter bollocks of course but that's what the water industry wants you to believe, and you do. eFestivals
I can buy food grade additive products at about the same cost as bottled water. Go on, tell me that has fewer processes and costs. Edited February 4, 2014 by eFestivals
