Babyquack
It really is. Thinking of trying Green Man this year - what is the festival vibe like? I honestly don't know much about it other than line up, price and where it is I have seen many people praise it over the years though! music-fan4
18+ unless with adult over 21. God I hate being 17, pretty understandable, but its a shame to miss out on such a fucking top line up

I honestly don't know much about it other than line up, price and where it is I have seen many people praise it over the years though! Hey. Been to 2 (2009 & 2010). And it is REALLY friendly. And its setting is beautiful, under the sugar loaf mountain. It can be a little cold....and when it rains, it makes Somerset look like a puddle. But i heartily recommend it. The line up looks like i will be returning this year. Best line up of this years announcements so far, me thinks.

A-Rob
The line up is ace , I'm seriously considering going this year. Is there any late night entertainment in the festival such as DJs at night, after the bands finish ? I
russycarps
This line up is sensational. I'm going. Is an older crowd? A mix? Is it lively after the bands end? Is getting off your tits frowned at like it is at latitude? Edited May 25, 2014 by russycarps
mistigri
Is an older crowd? A mix? Is it lively after the bands end? Is getting off your tits frowned at like it is at latitude? Can't compare to other UK festivals (I live abroad) but I'd say it's a good mix of ages - which probably makes it an "older crowd" than some other festivals. There is late night entertainment and (I believe) they have a 24 hour licence. Very friendly, well organised and safe, can't recommend it highly enough. Especially with the line up this year. bennyhana22
How muddy does it generally get? Hi Zahid - long time no speak/post! I lurk around here (EOTR forum) occasionally, only to lament how that forum has pretty much come to an end. Shame. I like reading your DiS posts too! Anyway, I'm going to GM again htis year and thought I'd respond to your question. Answer is, if it's dry, not at all. If it's wet, it makes a wet Glastonbury look like a slightly damp weekend out. GM2012 was wet as hell and it turned into a quagmire. I tried to run from one stage to another from Dark Dark Dark to The Wave Pictures and it was like doing one of those inexpicably popular Tough Events when weekend warriors crawl through 16km of sh1t for a laugh. Over only a couple of hundred metres. Saying that, I still had a great time as the site is very beautiful, the atmosphere fantastic, the food excellent, the after hours stuff busy enough for my late night entertainment and, as you will have noted, the line-up this year is outstanding. But bring wellies. Or a biological Warfare survival suit, if the forecast is a bit iffy! Ben
bennyhana22
thanks for the info! Will definitely try and get there. Hi russycarps It is a similar feel to EOTR, but with a more substantial after hours profile, I'd say. Chai Wallahs goes on very late after the bigger stages have finished and it gets nice and sweaty in there. Getting off your tits is fine, and you can do so without having to negotiate a large number of a-holes, as they're just not really there. It's older than, say, Latitude, and obviously Reading etc, but it doesn't feel in anyway an older person's festival. You should go. As mistigri said above, the line-up is very, very good this year. Sadly, I will face an inevitable series of clash nightmares, so many acts do I want to see... Ben

bilbobawbag
Hello, this will be my first year attending green man festival, coming down from Scotland. Was just wondering if there a lot actually happens on the Thursday or if i wouldn't miss too much by arriving on the Friday morning? Thanks in advance!
mistigri
There are bands in the Far Out tent on the Thursday evening, so it would be worth waiting to see the Thursday programme before you make your decision. Last year Patti Smith on the Thursday evening was one of the highlights of the festival.
bennyhana22
The Waterboys are confirmed as headlining the Thursday night bands in the Far Out tent for GM2014. As yet no other confirmation of who is playing on the Thursday. GM Twitter said yesterday that they were hoping to have the day splits announced 'by the end of the week', so that would be the time to decide whether or not to aim to arrive on Thursday or Friday. However, I can't imagine why you wouldn't want to spend that additional evening and night in the most beautiful of all festival settings! wolfamongwolves
Hi there, I'm hoping to be joining you at the green man. Never been before. Have gone to end of the road for the last six years. Bought a early bird for it which I regret as the line up does not do much for me. With every announcement the green man line up just gets better and better. Hopefully i will be able to sell my tickets for end of the road . Then get tickets for green man.

michael eavis' beard
Anyone know where the shuttle bus from Abergavenny train station drops off? We're arriving on the Thursday afternoon, are there specific camping areas that we should aim for - we won't want 'quiet camping'. Ta. dirty_dog
Hi all, thinking of getting a ticket but too late to book the friday off work ( might throw a sickie) so was just wondering when does it all kick-off and when do you get the lineup days/times?
