eFestivals
Blimey!!!Guessing the Sis is a huge Kasabian fan!!!LOL Or perhaps he's merely recognising that a band who have headlined all of Reading & Leeds, Glastonbury, and T in the Park is perfectly suitable as a headliner of a similar sized festival? Rose-Colored Boy
Given that most of the rest of the bill looks like a mid-tier fest at best, I'd argue Kasabian stands out as almost the only booking that is at the level V should be aspiring to.. Stubert
Ok, maybe the wrong choice of words. But was really expecting something special from V this year what with it being the 20th Anniverary. When you take into account previous headliners of Beyonce and Justin Timberlake was half expecting Rhianna of even Eminem to come back. Kasabian would of been an excellent choice to headline the MTV stage as was Elbow last year V defo going downhill!!

Its a weird one for me, I find myself very underwhelmed by Kasabian headlining festivals, because I still see them as a sub band at best, but its personal preference and as people say they have headlined everywhere and therefore are a "big" booking. It just doesn't feel like one!

Headlining the pyramid stage to doing the 2nd stage at a lower standard festival?
deadpheasant
It's essentially a shit rehash of 2013's line-up

Kasabian would of been an excellent choice to headline the MTV stage as was Elbow last yearV defo going downhill!!so you don't think Eminem, Beyonce, Timberlake and Rihanna was it going downhill?I'd say that the ticket sales since they've had acts such as those above - when it's not sold out quickly - to its previous days when it sold out very quickly show that it's gone downhill since those sorts of acts have been on the bill.Whatever, Kasabian can't be regarded as a substandard headliner. They can only reasonably be regarded as a suitable headliner that might not be to your tastes.
phil the shrew
Think in the current climate of the music industry, and the range of festivals around, Kasabian are a good headliner, but perhaps not an exciting one. If you have been to other festivals over the last 2-3 years, or past V fests you have probably seen Kasabian play, and while they are a big name they don't quite fall into that wow category that maybe the 20th anniversary might have offered. Exactly this. Not a particularly bit fan in the slightest but anyone can see they are a headline sized band now

Kris_lcfc
I think the problem with kasabian is there's never been a time when you couldn't see them. I saw them twice last year and I'm fairly certain I saw them the year before as well. theyre always somewhere which is why not even they stand out
Hello1
I understand why people are moaning about Olly Murs headlining the MTV stage but I do understand the reasoning. Although it's quite a jump from where you'd expect him to be, he is a good, high energy live performer with quite a large back catalogue of hits now and it makes sense to have a pop headliner for when Kasabian are playing. Mr Nasty
I was hoping Coldplay or Blur might have played for the 20th Anniversary. But what happened to Noel Gallagher and the Prodigy? I thought they were certs. If those two were on, it would definitely look better for me and I'd 100% buy a ticket. No so sure now.
jamesbduk
I'm suprised at just how disappointed I am. I really bought into the bullsh*t about this being a SPECIAL year... No chance this will sell out, so feel bad for anyone conned into buying an Early Bird ticket. At least the touts won't make any money this year! #FreeComTruise
At least you can understand why lol. BMT fucking H are subbing Reading with no bloody reason as to why! I thought the reasoning/rumour was along the lines of they're being pushed up lineups quickly because headliner 'rock act' pool is stagnating - and they're looking to headline Download next year? They don't look out of place to me, especially under Metallica.
Rose-Colored Boy
Yeah I'd say BMTH subbing Metallica makes much more sense to me than Olly Murs jumping from fifth down main to second stage headliner.
thewayiam
So you mean like BMTH jumping from 5th down main to subbing which is pretty much the equivalent? Fast tracking a rock act, if you want to call them that, because the header pool is less isn't a reason for bumping up an act. They've done one Wembley Arena date, it doesn't constitute sub level, regardless of being under Metallica.

Stubert
OMG!!! People are a bit touchy today!! Ok I take it all back and apologise unreservedly. Kasabian are an excellent choice to headline and even though they have toured this year and headlined many other recent festivals I am sure that the lines will go into meltdown when the ticketline opens. DGrant261
Saw a tweet saying: 'V Festival is just a BTec T in the Park' and that pretty much summarises what they've gone for this year. I'd have gone for this as a realistic top 4, to distinguish it from T which it looks a bit of a sub par alternative to. Calvin Harris Florence & The Machine Coldplay Sam Smith
