How quickly will Weston Park sell out? I was under the impression that it wouldn't but a friend said apparently people are queuing up for tickets or something

You did used to be able to get tickets at local venues like the Wolverhampton Civic where people went in person. Didn't realise that still happened but very little point as you can get them online

As others have said wait till late July when you know line up and get one online via eBay - much cheaper and you will know the line up by then

Local press have been reporting only 2 people turned up to buy tickets at Wolverhampton in person and ticket sales are significantly down on same stage as last year, which itself wasnt a bumper year

Well at least V know they have at least 2 people going, they should be happy with that

I live right by the booking office in Wolverhampton and theres 3 main factors why people wouldn't queue up anymore

1 Its closed down and now you have to queue up at the actual Civic Hall and they haven't promoted V whatsoever this year or any other festivals that they used to sell.

2 If you queued up in person you used to be able to get the ticket at cost price no extra fees whatsoever, no booking, nothing, this is no longer the case, the box office changed and now you have to pay exactly the same as ordering on the internet or phone.

3 Why would you take time off work and queue up early if it hasn't been an instant sell out past few years and theres no incentive like saving any money? You just wouldn't. Theres absolutely ZERO reason to go stand in person from early in the morning anymore. None, im sure many people have gone in and bought tickets over the period of time since and will continue to.

I remember a few years ago local press taking pictures of some horrendous queues when tickets were released. As everyone has said live nation just ain't bothered. Yes V was always pop, but they threw in enough big name guitar acts to level the playing field so it literally was s fest to suit all tastes. I miss that V

I assume that they haven't learned that It's not sold out so there is no secondary market.

There is still a secondary market, its just not worth selling on because the demand is that low that you have to sell less than face value. My friend sold a weekend ticket for £100 to someone on the Friday of the festival, big loss

It is such a bleak picture for festivals these days and V highlights than more than any other.God I'd have loved to have been around in 2000's when festivals were good/rock based and affordable. Which year would be the pick of the V's you've been to?

Whichever year it was when Scissor Sisters and Franz Ferdinand co-headlined. Sick.

2005, Oasis was the other day, but The Streets subbed them! I remember it was billed as special guests for AGES and the names that were mentioned and then it was announced as The Streets and everyone was gutted! Ha ha

Prodigy and Chemical Brothers were the second stage headliners

My favourite V was 2001, it was my first and had an amazing line up.

RHCP, Foo Fighters, Muse, Placebo, Coldplay, Faithless, Kylie, Snow Patrol, The Charlatans, Ian Brown, JJ72, Embrace, Texas, David Gray, Doves, Idlewild, Shed Seven, The Avalanches, Phoenix, Neil Finn, Grandaddy, Ben Folds, Starsailor and Powderfinger! There was loads more too but seriously how good was that, I remember loads of people going mad cus Atomic Kitten were added low down in the tent. Ha all we get now is stages full of that shite.

Seriously though look how many headliners on that bill RHCP, Foos, Muse, Kylie, Coldplay, Snow Patrol.

Texas headlined main stage! Charlatans subbed, Faithless played in the afternoon in the blazing sunshine right after it had pissed down everyone was raving their tits off in the mud but it was drying really fast so you were getting that spongy ground, oh man that was ace!

Takes me back to the speculation over Glasto's unannounced slots last year..."will it be Radiohead?" "No I think its the sort of thing Prince would do" "the allocated timeslot is exactly right for the Manics to perform Holy Bible in full"

Turn up on the day and it's actually Kaiser Chiefs and The Kooks lmao.

From the perspective of someone who has grown up with V having pretty much only 'That shite', when I read these old line ups I find it really hard to get my head around how Atomic Kitten were put on that bill! Nowadays a Placebo/Foo Fighters crowd is so different from an Atomic Kitten crowd that I don't see why V would ever have thought they needed to do that.

I guess we've gone full circle now where any guitar bands added to V are like the acts in the small minority like Atomic Kitten-esque pop groups once were :(
