Why did people keep on insisting that Florence would be a weak headliner when it is clearly the case that she'd be a strong one

Because she is brutal, end of story.

I couldn't think of anything worse than her screaching on the main stage and guetta on radio 1,thank **** for slam.

Mate if we're going for a bird banging out tunes madonna/kylie/pink or Katy Perry are hands down better than Florence.

I think she will be At titp but as a sub.

It's well sick how her gender is her overriding characteristic.

Why not "if we're going for an indie-pop act banging out tunes Noel Gallagher/Coldplay are hands done better than Florence."?

I highly doubt the bookers go "Right, we can have Florence, but let's explore the other female options who could be an alternative". I'm sure they're much more likely to do this with genre than gender.

While I agree strong headliners are key for attracting good sales of tickets for big festivals I always find myself drawn to a strong undercard rather than whose headlining. I think T deserve good credit for getting strong undercards over the years and while there headliners may lack ambition on occasion I'm always usually very happy with at least one of the three.

Flo on a UK exclusive would be a big deal for t

Is this a serious statement?

It must be a sign of the times that people actually think Florence and the Machine would be a 'Strong' headliner. Its bad enough we have nonsense like The 1975, Bastille, Calvin Harris etc. Playing year after year but Florence and the Machine now seen as a good choice to Headline? Utter rubbish.

It seems every thread Florence is mentioned in for any festival there animosity over whether she would/should/could headline

There's no doubting that it would be a booking that raise a lot of talking points, but she's worked her way up the line up, and her albums keep selling and her tours keep selling, so rightfully she deserves her crack at it

She wouldn't be a strong headliner. If you put her with two bands of the same level, you'd probably call it a weak three. So no, she's not a strong headliner. Not to say she isn't a headliner, and depending on whoelse is there, T could easily get away with it.

Oh, and as said earlier, saying "she's shit" doesn't actually add to this debate at all.

Well if you was looking to appear less like a boys club/appeal to females you might well think you need a female led act :P

That sounds awfully like a reasoned thought than a black or white statement of fact....

This is not how we do things on here :P
