Dancing around already. Another festival devotee I suspect. Hope all's going well Katster.

Regards

Ha, yep I should think so. It's off to bearded theory in a few weeks time and already been to a gig few weeks back. Not that it can hear anything yet but should be starting to by bearded :)

I'm doing really well, the sickness has subsided and I'm feeling good. I'm not looking forward to being big or the birth but I guess I'm not supposed to think about that.

I can heartily recommend Marie Mongan (spelling?!) Hypnobirthing book. Not necessarily for the hypno stuff but for the really useful information about the physiology of giving birth. I found it enormously helpful and laboured at home until pretty much the point of delivery.

Congrats Katster!

You are due 2 weeks after us (our 2nd!). We have our 20 week scan the week before bearded theory so will know then what the sex is.

I will be attempting a natural birth with no pain relief. I used to be a big fan of laughing gas but overdid it and fell out with it a long time ago, I'm not in any rush to take it especially when trying to give birth lol.

We have the option of a birthing pool which apparently helps with pain relief and I am hoping that remaining active throughout my pregnancy (still walking, swimming and going to Pilates) will make for a speedy labour. Will have a read up on tens machines, thanks Barry.

I'm surprised gas and air worked. I opted for it while having a colonoscopy thinking I may as well get a laugh out of this procedure. It turned out to be no laughing matter at all. All I felt was pain and considerable discomfort. I don't know but would have thought giving birth was even more painful than having an appliance shoved up your arse.

I can't really comment, I've had mixed results. Out of 4, 2 were foetal distress, which means maximum pain and you're only allowed oxygen, no pain relief. One I had gas and air and it was moderately painful. One wasn't painful at all.

  • 2 weeks later...

I actually felt more emotional with hearing its heartbeat. The scan was planned, expected, and quite clinical (it seemed very much just a job to the girl doing it).

Yesterday was a surprise gift from our new midwife and she very much included us both and shared in the joy of it.

I'm sure the 20 week scan will be better than 12 though, much more of a baby then rather than a peanut with a big head :)
