It was...interesting. Slightly terrifying in the seconds walking up to the hospital (possibly more so for people trying to sleep in there given the noise I was making) but the actual delivery bit could not have been more different to my first - 2 pushes this time vs 3 hours of pushing last time.

Managed to fall down the stairs at home this afternoon, thankfully not holding the baby, so am feeling a bit battered! Baby very chilled for now, will see what tonight brings - can't be any crazier than last night!

Last time I pick up a crochet hook, I tell ya! ;)

I'd love to be able to crochet. All I can remember of it is the little crochet hook. I seem to remember some kind of bobbin thing as well, is that to do with crochet?

Is it easier to keep tension than knitting?

Just a hook and a ball of wool! That's why I love it, as there's only one thing to keep track of - just the thought of knitting hurts my head! I've never knit though, so not sure if it's easier or not.

By the way Bunique, I now own a total of four slings/carriers ha. Addictive indeed. Willow is a big baby (14lb 7oz at 12 weeks) so I've had to buy more sturdier types intended for older babies. I hadn't realised but did you know that baby wearing counts as tummy time? (When they are awake at least). No wonder she's developed such good head control!

I can't knit, see or crochet :(

I went to a sewing machine class on Saturday! It must be my age...

It is totally addictive! What are you using these days? I've not dug them out yet but if I'm feeling a bit better tomorrow I might brave a little walk with her wrapped up. Our first always hated being on her tummy but developed great head control from being in the sling, it's a great alternative!

Well, it must be really hard to knit and crochet if you can't see. ;)

In case it's any comfort, I can't knit at all, my sewing is very basic (mending socks and patching up the knee parts of boys' trousers), and although I can crochet a bit I never have the time. I wanted to retort to Bunique's post ("Last time I pick up a crochet hook"), something like: "Well, you won't have time for it for years to come!" But there she's talking about getting her sewing machine out tomorrow..... seems some people have babies & kids who actually sleep.... :startle:

At the moment I'm favouring this one:

Since the temperature dropped it offers a bit more warmth for her (and me). Willow can cope on her tummy for a little while but it can make her puke and stress so I like that wearing her is a good alternative.

Ha, sew not see. Silly phone. Would it pain you to hear that Willow has been sleeping from 7.30pm-6.30am since she was about 8 weeks old?? She wakes for feeds but goes straight back down afterwards. I'm so lucky I know! She has about four naps in the day still too and they can last up to two hours each!

I'm finally wanting to find a nice hobby, I'm 54. My son suggested I take up knitting about a decade ago, it didn't go down too well, but I'd like to do something creative now, I think.

I love it - I'm not in the least creative but I can follow a pattern! That blanket is the most complex thing I've attempted but even the little things are really satisfying. And very handy when you're short on ideas for Christmas presents! Though lord knows when I'll pick up a hook again!

I think (touch wood) we created the perfect baby. She sleeps from 7.30pm-7.30am and has been doing so for about a month now! (ish, it's not always bang on but thereabouts. She wakes for feeds and nappy changes but settles herself back to sleep straight afterwards). At only 14 weeks old that's pretty amazing no?

I feel like I should spoiler it so as not to ruin your good mood... But there is a massive sleep regression at 4 months as they suddenly take a huge developmental leap. It's often why people end up introducing solids that bit early because they assume baby is hungry - they're not necessarily (though will often eat more often to power through all the changes) but it can seem like it. I will cross my fingers you avoid it altogether or you find it relatively short and painless!
