For the graphics fans we are now getting nice 3hrly output from Meteociel

clicky and scroll mouse down the number list on LHS

Looks like rain thursday from 5-midnight and showers friday afternoon from there - so it's pretty much trying to ruin the NFRNFC meet and move along. Har.

The irony, LOL

Tis odd mind, as every chart/forecast I have seen shows no wet stuff til at least 10pm Thursday.

They really are very very uncertain!

Hey! We won't be in disabled camping, I have enquired in the past about whether hubby would be able to get any access to cut throughs etc due to his variable mobility, but because he doesn't claim DLA or have a blue badge we were told he can't get any help. Which seems ridiculous as his disability is enough to prevent him from moving around the festival when there is mud, but I guess they need to use some kind of criteria to determine who is eligible.

Hope it is manageable for your hubby in his wheelchair, I can't imagine trying to get one through the thick stuff but hopefully I won't be that bad!

Hmm, that's odd. My parents are coming for the second time this year. They camped with us (my hubby is allowed to take three people into disabled camping with him) and while he was there they asked to some wristbands for the viewing platforms (my dad's back is quite bad nowadays and can't stand for very long due to prolapsed discs and nerve problems). They only asked on the off chance waited till Friday afternoon, to ensure they weren't taking anyone else's, but once my dad explained his condition he was told he should apply for the facilities himself in future. My mum did this year and he got full use, plus a PA. He doesn't claim DLA or have a blue badge either; he just sent a confirmation letter from his GP. I guess it all depends on the type of applicants they get - I know it's assessed on a case-by-case basis.

I think it's worth you going to Spring Ground and asking for the wristbands/cut throughs etc as they may have some spaces left over again. I'm happy to ask on your behalf when I'm there, if you like? I know the platforms made a world of difference for my dad last year.

Anyhoo, back on topic. I don't think the rain will be too bad - nothing's really showing any persistent rain and the ground is bone dry at the mo. Plus the ray of sunshine that is Dolly Parton is on Sunday so it has to be clear by then :-)

As long as it's not like Leeds 2013, I'm happy. That was thrashing rain from Thursday night, then onwards through Friday and Saturday. Easily the worst weather I've ever seen at a festival.

If it's comparable to 2011 (Which I don't even remember being that bad, just muddy) then I'm happy

Under foot conditions sucked, I would happily take the 2011 weather if the underfoot conditions didn't end up the same.

I'm sure with the run up of 2011 I heard there was flooding and the ground was really wet a few weeks beforehand wasn't it? and on top of that it rained Wednesday morning too so that really churned the ground up.

Bingo - cue the hilarious video from the radio guy trying to convince everyone the pools of standing water weren't a problem.

No pools of standing water this time

Ground was shit before the festival, Wednesday's shower killed it really. And that's before the Friday.

At the moment, it looks as if this dry spell will continue on Weds and Thurs, followed by the heavy stuff on Friday - I have no idea how that will affect the ground. Would it 'float' on the surface?

Friday onwards is still a guessing game at this point, the low pressure could hit us full on; or sneak south towards France.

I feel like e-mailing every weather site and simply saying "You know nothing, John Meteorologist"

...... I'll get my coat

Hopefully it'll just make the mud really runny, at least on Friday night. Easier to walk in than when it becomes incredibly sticky and thick.

Spot on but I remember Wednesday from midday onwards/Thursday/Saturday/Sunday (I actually got sunburnt) being very nice indeed so I'd take that.

Nothing I've seen suggests this year will be as bad as Friday of that year, mind.

thats right. In the run up to 2011 it rained for about 2 weeks beforehand.

This time I think its a plus its been so dry.

We'll all have a good time, its just better if its dry. Doesn't have to be blazing sunshine, just not hours and hours of rain however strong.

take some kind of blanket then not even that matters, ive nicked the wifes picnic blanket that folds up with a handle so can even carry it around easily.....prepped for anything me gonna be a good time! positive people :P

This is the second time I've seen you say this and don't know if you're being serious or not.

Bin bags are best to sit on in the mud because you can throw them away - you don't want to be carrying around a filthy blanket so you want something easily washable or disposable. I sat on my anorak a few times in 2011 - the rain on the Friday just washed it all off.
