Weather

The only mystery about weather science is the fact that they still haven't worked out a way of predicting tomorrow's weather, let alone the forecast in a month.

This early on, the only thing any of us have is hope and faith.

That is a thread-nullifying quote if ever i've read one.

In all seriousness, i've just been trawling the 'net for every weather site i can find, as some of the foreign long range forecasts are pretty accurate, relatively speaking. A Chilean site, and they're no dummies when it comes to locally-geographically-split forecasts due to the predominant Andes influence cutting the 'standard-earth' gravitationally affected east-to-west wind/pressure systems in half, if not blatantly disrupting them altogether (due to the planet's rotation) into an almost 'push-driven' south to north weather system...much akin to Japan - an island weather system split longitudinally through the island(s) [sun on one 'side', snow on the other...but obviously influenced across the 'sound' of mainland Asia])...and they reckon it's fucking pot luck what it's gonna be like unless we pay penance to the Weather Gods. NFR NFC. xxx

Some of the charts suggesting a heatwave in 2 weeks time. It would have no bearing whatsoever on the weather at Glastonbury, but would make me more optimistic in any case!

Edit: I say heatwave knowing very little about what I'm looking at, but there was a lot of red over England!

Yeah but the difference between this thread and yours is that here we're looking at the data as it becomes available and over there you're putting your heads in the sand in the pretence of belief.

You may have date but it is way too far out to be of any significance.

All those super computers and it is still guesswork.

*sigh*

No. But after years of trying to explain the difference between the complete guesswork of religious fantasy as compared to the informed punts of weather simulation I've pretty much given up caring

If it's not nailed on 200% certain then there's snide and nasty comments, if there's a bit more rain than predicted then someone pops on after to stick two fingers up at JackOne and call him a c**t who's just guessing

Really. This isn't the way civilised folk carry on

I really do have to laugh.

Anybody who thinks that the other thread is totally serious needs a reality check.

Humour based around something we have no control over is done to lighten the mood.

Never mind, you probably won't get this either.

NFR NFC Praise be to the weather gods!

Seriously, they have no idea what the weather is going to do tomorrow let alone in 3 and a half weeks time!

Granted, trying to make predictions about Glastonbury at this stage is a bit foolish, but saying they have no idea about the weather tomorrow is just silly!

*clasps sides before laughter splits them in two*

It's not humour, it's belittling and massively distracting when we're trying to have a thread about weather with some science and sense in it, not just one with people coming in every two hours "NFRNFC!NFRNFC! Ah you can't predict tomorrow's weather, supercomputers! Hah!" - repeat as necessary for 21 pages

or you guys can go do that stuff in your thread, we can do our stuff in our thread and maybe we can visit each other once a week not all the time until all discussion is lost under spam.

I am only saying my opinion. I have said nothing derogatory about jack one or j10 as he is know known nor will I.

I assume you are referring to me as uncivilised I can assure you I am civilised.

Not you personally so much, but a general attitude of derision and writing things off as guesswork it's not productive or helpful. All those supercomputers do help an absolute shitload - claiming they don't is just uninformed

How many times have I posted here - not many so perhaps take what I wrote as being real - I at least understand humour and can run with it.

I feel sorry for people who take everything so seriously. Life's too short peeps!!!!

Have a lovely Sunday evening and enjoy yourselves at GF...............................

[oh, hang on...shit...should i comment?

Is this my thread with my RULES?

Or should i just scroll down and ignore the inherent, irreverent humour that quite a few people from this thread have appreciated?...in the spirit of an internet forum?

Hmmm. NOPE. I'VE GOT THE ARSE!!!!!]

Would you be able to highlight the 'snide' and 'nasty' comments please...and i will personally have a word.

Seriously.

I've not said that. I said uninformed. If I chimed in about heart surgery and someone said "you don't know what you're talking about" I'd said 'fair play' - not get moody

Yes. I've got the arse. Because it's nice to have the occasional thread not completely spammed to hell with nonsense

Or are you setting the rules now and every thread is to be full of crap?

Sometimes I do wonder - are you all the types of 'anarchist' who'd keep coming into a quiet theatre performance and screaming and banging drugs - then laugh and say it's a free world?

It IS a free world, so let others have some and don't force the chaos you want into everywhere - i'm not coming forcing any sense and order into the NFRNFC thread

respect for each people. it's not hard.
