Weather

Ha, we've reached the point we reach every year where people start bargaining themselves down! Coping with the prospect of bad weather at glastonbury is much like the five stages of grief:

1. Denial

2. Anger

3. Bargaining

4. Depression

5. Acceptance

True. There are some pretty humdrum forecasts around at the moment. Still, don't forget hope. There is always hope. Didn't 2008 end up a lot nicer than forecast in the end, despite the early rain? And that was after the festival had started that it got better.

There is always hope!

Nah - was still raining off and on overnight and until about 7 or 8 the next morning.

Rained on and off Thursday PM but dont remember any rain during the night. Wellies by Thursday early PM. Remember going back and changing back into walking boots after the Hives last year so that was mid afternoon.

All the same - Arcadia wasnt easy to get around Thursday night.

The drainage is amazing on site - how quick is dries/ hardens up. But so is the incredible speed the place decends into sticky mud with the sheer number of people walking around.

Given we've only had 1 completely welly free year in the last 10 - looks to me we're most likely to get something like last year. Which is OK - but give me dust over mud anyday. Let me sit eedown when I want to.

This is the latest weather bulletin from work for the middle of June to the 1st July (I don't work anywhere weather related, but they need to keep an eye on it):

"There are indications of more settled weather conditions gradually developing, after an

unsettled start to the period with further showers or longer spells of rain. Average or slightly above average

temperatures are possible, especially across eastern areas initially but then later in the period more widely

across England."

Doesn't sound too shabby! (Being very optimistic there, I know!)

As long as it isnt like yesterday later afternoon around Bath. A litle reminder of what weather in November is like.

At least we got that out of the way in advance.

This, exactly. Ground is saturated at moment. Nice day today though in Zummerzet - perfect festival weather I reckon.

Hear hear. I sit in a top-floor window at work and can see the weather coming in. It's amazing how many times this spring/early summer my work friends and I have said "Fuck me, it looks like November out there". Hasn't been a classic, has it?

You're spot on there, apart from the first May Bank Hol it's been pretty poor.

Latest from met office. Sounds pretty good to me

UK Outlook for Friday 20 Jun 2014 to Friday 4 Jul 2014:

No strong signals exist regarding conditions during the latter part of June and early July, suggesting that the most likely scenario is something close to what is climatologically usual for the time of year. As such spells of fine weather are expected, but occasional bouts of unsettled weather with rain or showers are also likely at times, and perhaps more likely to the north and west of the UK. Temperatures will probably be near or just below average during unsettled weather, and otherwise often at least a little above average during brighter periods when conditions should feel warm.

And as you read this Burger you may well be looking out of that same window and saying - not bad weather at all not bad at all... :)

Really?

My strongly (for me) tanned arms and face would disagree - there have been a fair few dodgy days at the weekend but it's been lush most of the time for months!

I think everyone forgets the five weekdays of good weather if the weekend's dodgy.

Bbc forecast cloud and rain today, but it's beautiful and sunny with blue skies- thats 10 straight days they've got it wrong even the day before.

Tonight I'm going to look up and write down 1 week and 2 week weather projections and then we can see how accurate they are at the time, thus allowing us to calculate the reliability of the glastonbury forecast one week and two weeks in advance!
