tumbles
just to be clear: the rain currently forecast is f*ck all right? Pretty much.
nickharley
So we can conclude that... but don't worry it won't be much.
The Nal
Pretty much. Still means no sitting down for the the entire festival.
stuartbert two hats
I'd just like to point out that for at least a week it's seemed like it's going to be OK weather, not a scorcher, with a little bit of rain, but no mud bath. And that's still pretty much what all the reports are saying.
**claire**
I'm feeling quite positive this morning - thanks for the updates everyone! In summary, I am assuming I'll still be able to get the car out of the car park on Monday morning?!
tumbles
Still means no sitting down for the the entire festival. Absolutely, it's going to be a complete muddy slurry pit.
nickharley
Still means no sitting down for the the entire festival. I don't know, 2011 (which I'm sure more rain fell than is currently forecast) they put hay down in certain areas like West Holts, was quite easy to sit down at times. Mr.Tease
Is it daft in not getting my fella wellies and considering not taking mine? XxX I'd take your own wellies, but it's up to your chap to sort out his own!

scorp
the breakdown is certainly well under way, if these charts are spot on, but hopefully not much rain until sunday. then, splash. http://www.weather.unisys.com/gfs/9panel/gfs_pres_9panel_eur.gif

Mr.Tease
2011 was considerably more rain than is currently forecast! It's not just the amounts- I hate it when it rains on and off because it means constantly donning and taking off my waterproofs- if it's going to rain I'd rather it just did it in one concentrated burst like in 2013. Messy
How does all this business actually work? Do the groups posting forecasts (bbc, netweather, yr.no...) use the same data (GFS?), and each interpret them in their own way?

Ted Dansons Wig
looking at the ensembles and models for next week, it generally looks very good - the only predicted rain is really for late sat and sunday - at this timeframe weather models always show a change in weather, either a breakdown in high pressure or a low moving on. What keeps happening is this breakdown in high pressure keeps moving back a day or two with each run - wasn't that long ago that the start of the festival was looking damp, I'd be surprised if for the south west this didn't happen until monday or tuesday and we are left with perfect conditions - lots of sun, temps in the low 20's. Stop now. This is the perfect comment. We'll stick with this. Matt - I love you and want to have your babies.
Mr.Tease
the BBC forecast has it down as showers every day, but BBC are shite at predicting this kind of stuff so best to ignore them! BBC have been wrong about the weather nearly every time I have checked- usually their website has 2 completely different forecasts- one with the usual symbols, and the other with that cloud radar thing. Both are usually wrong- which is an impressive achievement. I wonder if weather forecasters ever have breakdowns, putting in all that work, analysing all the data only to guess wrongly every day must takes its toll- surely they get to the stage of feeling "what's the point?!"
