danbailey80
Touring until late May, he's local, with a history of Glastonbury and a friend of the Eavis'. Would be a perfect healdiner on the West Holts. Thoughts?
Guest
I'd definitely be there. He has played the festival before but not for ages. Fingers crossed!!
gibbin82
I find it difficult believe it is so long since he was there and was surprised he wasn't booked for the 40th anniversary. Went to see him at the O2 last October and he was superb, would be an excellent choice for this years Glasto.
dan05delaney
Oh could throw up some chashed that... how about Kate Bush guesting on Don't Give Up?
billum
He's been playing the whole of So on his tour (which was absolutely stunning) and so Don't Give Up would fit perfectly. PG appearing would raise the whole level of performers this year to a new peak for me - his show suits a large stage and he's a brilliant performer (Lana del Rey could stand by and take notes). danbailey80
The problem with someone like Peter is (relaxed, understated, in his own worldetc), he's never going to approach Glastonbury to ask to play and I can't see him being on the Eavis' radar. A shame because I genuinely can't think of a better person to headline the West Holts, with his huge backcatolgue of hits and obvious links with world music and the causes of Glastonbury etc. Also, I imagine too late now to get a booking like that. Aren't the West Holts usually one of the first to get their bookings sorted? Can someone with any twitter or inner circle links try to get this idea on their radar! tommyds
I thought he only ever does Womad?
hoils
I thought he only ever does Womad? He headlined the Pyramid in 94. Was really good, too. He's a 2 nights at the O2 kind of guy so I would have thought way too popular to play West Holts?

Pinhead
Impressed with his Hop Farm performance a few years back. The local lad really needs to return imho. Only lives down the road from me....
billum
It would indeed be perfect in every way. Since he's played Glasto before he must be within Eavis's sights, so maybe he is on the West Holts line-up already and word hasn't leaked out yet. (Ever the Optimist! This would make my year.) gibbin82
Had the email below from Peter Gabriel's site announcing some new UK dates for his So album Back to Front tour and wondered it there maybe still some chance of him being added to this years Glastonbury line-up. Although a good number of slots have already been announced there is still plenty to fill and as with the Metallica rumour there are probably still some quite significant acts still to be added to the line-up. For me if would be a great booking for West Holts, I saw the tour last October and it was one of the best shows I saw last year -------------------- Following the phenomenal response to the recent Back to Front tour dates, the recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Peter Gabriel, has confirmed a further series of Back to Front arena shows in the UK and Ireland. Tickets for the UK shows go on general sale on Friday 25 April and for Dublin on Wednesday 30th April Fri Nov 28th Birmingham LG Arena, UK Sun Nov 30th Sheffield Arena, UK Mon Dec 1st Cardiff Arena, UK Wed Dec 3rd Wembley Arena, UK Sun Dec 7th Liverpool Arena, UK Mon Dec 8th Aberdeen Exhibition Centre, UK Wed Dec 10th Dublin O2 Arena, IE *
billum
As much as I would absolutely *love* this to happen, I note that his bass player on the tour, Tony Levin, is in Australia June 26-28, which *very nearly* rules out a PG appearance... OK, there's a 10% chance Tony could make it back here for the Sunday evening (allowing for Aus being 9 hrs ahead), or a 1% chance PG could play with a different bass player, but I fear it's a No to So at Glasto for now Maybe a solo piano mini-set in the Acoustic Tent with Kate?? She was not only on Don't Give Up, but No Self Control and Games Without Frontiers as well, so this could, er, work...?
jonny2mad
if peter plays glastonbury I would turn up just in case kate guests, its a forlorn hope and, I'm seeing her anyway on her opening night but its possible shes a unpredictable women . And yup on his own he would be a fine booking

Didn't realise about Tony Levin being in Australia during Glastonbury, I think there would be not even a 1% chance that Peter Gabriel would play without him. Shame but it gives me hope for another year, it must happen some time.
Martin Ashford
I am so blown away that he is in Cardiff. I'm fairly certain he has never played a solo show here.

billum
He's dreadfully dull nowadays. Can't agree with you there Neil - he's certainly different these days, but the word I'd use is 'Mellow'... His recent So gigs were stunning, and would set Glasto on fire on main stage, with so many great & well-known songs. He's still a fantastic performer, and I'd be ecstatic to see his show at Glasto. eFestivals
the word I'd use is 'Mellow'... the words i'd use is cardigan and slippers.Or "dull". I'd almost prefer to see Bruce Springsteen.Almost, but not quite.
danbailey80
then you've not seen peter for at least ten years. He's dreadfully dull nowadays. No he's not. Seen him 3 times in last 10 years and before, and all equally excting with the same equally as exciting live band. Can't recall the last time you actually said something positive or were excited/ passionate about an artist. It's starting to get dreadfully dull. I'm a big fan of Peter's work, and I've also seen him 3 times in the last 10 years. Just because I'm a fan it doesn't stop me recognising dull as dull for an act I like.
