Monday traffic leaving worthy view

Just wondering if people have any experience leaving worthy view on the monday? I'm guessing the traffic in the car park is slightly better but you're straight into the jams so leaving between 10 and 2 isn't advisable?

Hmmmm, was going to ask something similar, so apoligies for the hijack. We need to get to Bristol Airport for 4pm, have booked a taxi but would we be able to tell it to pick us up at WV? Would 1.30pm be OK if we took into account jams etc or do we need to hike to the shuttle coaches, then the pick up point? Any advice would be appreciated.

Left WV around 9.30am on the Monday last year. No queue to leave site at all - we were heading back to m5 on the road through glastonbury and street. The point they bring you back onto that road is a good ways towards glastonbury and means the vast majority of traffic has cleared. No worse than mildly busy then all the way back to the m5, maybe 2-3 minutes longer than normal.

Traffic can vary so its best to plan for the worst and hope for the best! Before you set off give your vehicle a check to make sure it's survived a few days by itself in a field. Make sure any mud or dust (depending on the weather) has been cleared from windows and don't forget to check oil and water levels too.

It's also a good idea to have plenty of food and water with you just in case the traffic is busier than you were hoping for.

Have an ace festival. We'll be down there as usual - and you can keep in touch with news and safety tips at www.glastonburypolice.com and by following us on Twitter @PoliceatGlasto

With getting taxis to pick up at Worthy View on the Monday, be very careful when asking exactly where they can pick you up from.

I remember leaving on the Monday last year, and as a lot of the roads are narrow farms roads for the final bit, they were one-way only for traffic leaving the Worthy View car park, so a taxi may not be able to get all the way in.

For general traffic, it was pretty easy going for us, leaving about 10.30am. Until we hit the motorway that is, where there was an accident, and slowed everyone up.

What are the queues like getting out of the west car parks on the Monday? We usually leave on the Sunday night after the last act but thinking of staying until the Monday this time....just don't fancy a mammoth 6 hour wait to get out of the field!!

I got to my car in East Purple at 11.30am on Monday last year. It took me over 2 hours to get past Shepton Mallet and 3.5 hours to reach the M5 north of Bristol.

It would seem that you're probably OK if you leave before about 10am, but after that you may as well just chill out on site for a few hours and leave mid-afternoon time, which is what I plan to do this year.

Edit: Just realised the OP asked about leaving Worthy View. I suppose that my experience from last year can't be that much different though, as we all have to use the same roads even if getting out of the car park at WV is a bit quicker?
