This is my 4th Glastonbury and usually stay on M5 till Bridgewater/Puriton I know its about 20 extra miles Than if I were to go through Bristol. In peoples experience which way is quicker. Aim to get to site around 9-10 am Wednesday

I try and do the same it saves me getting stuck in any traffic through Bristol and Bath and it takes me to gate D where I prefer to park. Last year I was working with allocated parking so had to go in from the east and I didn't enjoy the journey anywhere near as much.

I'm driving down from West Yorkshire and will be doing the M5 route to junction 23...don't fancy driving through Bristol (even at the ungodly hour of 1am/2am Wednesday morning).

Gets me to ped D, which is ideal for my preferred camping location and has always been a piece of cake both in & out of the festival.

To avoid the Bristol rush hour traffic you can come off the M32 at J1 and follow the A4174 as it loops around the East of Bristol, right on the A4 then left on the A4174 again and left onto the A37 and down through to the festival site. it can be a bit stop start but you don't have the Bristol city centre roadworks and commuter traffic to deal with but there are some superstores on the route where you can top up with fuel, supplies etc.

Someone gave me this route last year.. I followed it an didn't hit a single queue.

If you know in advance that the A39 is choked as you are coming down the M5 you can come off one junction early at Burnham-on-Sea,

turn right at the Edithmead roundabout towards Weston, take the first right towards Mark, then left at the next crossroads and follow the road through Mark Causeway onto Wedmore.

Then follow signs through Meare, Westhay and on to Glastonbury to join up with the A361, its a really nice route anyway and you get to go right past Roger Wilkins Cider at Mudgley.

Stayed in Burnham on Sea the night before the gates opened last year as we also travel from the North West and wanted to get into the site early. We stayed in a chalet in one of the caravan parks, ยฃ25 for up to 4 people (although it's very cosy). Cheap, cheerful and cheesy alternative to doing the journey in one go :)

We want to end up in east car parks

I am coming from Yorkshire. My mate is convinced that if you come down the A37 from Bristol you get forced into to the West Car Parks. I can't see how this can be true as this route come out to the east of Pilton.

Last year we went a very long route via Stonehenge to come in from the east. I am trying to persuade my mate this year to go to Bristol and drop down the A37 but he his fairly certain we will end up at west parking if we do this?

Thoughts please?......
