Lana is much bigger star than Tinie Tempah I even didn't hear about him before beni's lineup. Maybe he is big in UK but not in the rest of the world:

And Lana is probably twice as much expensive than Tinie.

Haha, I'm surprised that you have never heard of Tinie. I wouldn't be surprised if you had heard of him and forgot about him. He had one song in 2009 that got extremely over played. Since then only people in the UK have heard from him. If you talk in terms of world fame, 100% Lana is twice the size of Tinie Tempah. Unfortunately most of this forum is from the UK.

How easy is it to string up tarpaulin over a tent? Like are there plenty of trees to tie it to, and is it worth it for the shade?

I haven't been to Beni so I don't know what their policy on gazebos is but I have found that when camping in heat they work pretty well to pitch the tent underneath one. Last time I was in the UK you could pick them up for about 12 quid at Argos. I doubt they would be much more expensive in Spain. They provide pretty decent shade to camp under and can easily be moved over to sit under while having beers by the tent.

Does anybody actually know what the gazebo rules are at Beni?

To be fair though, Morrissey probably does not appeal so much to the social media generation. One direction has 30m likes the rolling stones have 18million. I can agree that the figures paint a picture for modern, comparable bands that appeal to a similar crowd though. The Smiths are known all over the world, and Moz is one of the most Iconic front men of any band. Before the Internet, people used to camp outside the ticket booth for 3 days before tickets come on sale. Tinie Tempah is more a non sold out kind of affair.

Muzz- no one is saying that Eminem is not bigger then all of them.....

Well then you've gotta see then, that Eminem would be the best choice for the festival headliner wise, the festival want to sell out tickets, Eminem will shift them.

I saw him live last year and wasn't all that impressed at the amount he rapped live, but I imagine a majority people would see him for nostalgia purposes more than anything else if he headlined Beni, nothing wrong with that.

Is Morrissey really that much bigger than Weller in terms of size?

Maybe he would be the best choice for a ticket shifting point of view. So would the Stones or Fleetwood Mac. I honestly don't see them having the money to throw at him this late in the game. We have already got our big headliner. Most people were thinking we wouldn't even get that.

I get the whole nostalgia thing, I was all for the chillis at the start. Glad we got the Libs.

Yes, definitely. In a world that goes beyond the channel, Morrissey is much bigger than Weller. I admit that he would be better suited to being a sub then a headliner but in the position were in, better Moz than TT.

As far as the former front man turned solo, outside the UK popularity scale is concerned I would say Weller is on par with Jarvis Cocker.

I love Jarvis (maybe even more than Moz) but Morrissey is bigger.

Weller's a lot bigger than Jarvis Cocker.

Jarvis Cocker would be in the Albert Hammond slot if he did solo stuff at Beni, Weller's subbing.

Might be the case in the UK, and even Beni which is basically a UK festival in Spain. But internationally where they are only really judged off the popularity of their old bands, there isn't much between then. The Jam are a faded memory outside the UK, Pulp are surprisingly still pretty popular.

The original post was about international cred. Neither of them get anywhere near Morrissey or the Smiths

Britpop is the only real genre of music I care about and while I like Weller, you never hear of him outside the UK.

Never heard of, yet he's subbing a festival in Spain?

I love the way you neglect the opening line of the post.

Put Weller at a festival In USA, Aus, South America or Asia and he is nothing special.

Look at the other bands on the Beni line-up It has a lot of old British acts, so Weller suits the line-up.

Check out Riot festival in the states. Weller is just another name in the crowd. The Cure is headlining so it's not like they have no appreciation for British music.

Folks,

Some mates of mine are being idiots and have bailed for Beni after the last announcement and now im looking to sell a couple of 4 Day tickets with camping. Bought them at €159 but wiling to let them go at €135 (£110) each. Still going myself as I've been before and know what they're missing out on. Either way if any one is interested just drop me a PM.

Cheers

Ok we'll go back to that opening line.

If you want to use the UK festival in Spain excuse, then Biffy Clyro would headline and you shouldn't question it, but you will.

I'm not saying Weller is massive outside the UK, I'm saying he's miles bigger than Jarvis Cocker though, especially in the UK.
