I have no idea how Messi was player of the tournament. Robben, Mascherano, J Rodriguez, Benzema, Valbuena and a good portion of the Germany squad deserve it more than he does.

I think he's past his best to be honest. Still world class, but I personally think right now Ronaldo is better, who is currently at his peak.

While Im against a world cup in Quatar, I do think it will be interesting to see whether playing the tournament earlier in the season benefits the top players in terms of fitness. These individual awards spark debate but the winners are soon forgotten.

The reasoning though, is they played that 3rd place playoff, and thus lost 2 games. Craziness...

I think its hard to start a conversation that puts Uruguay, Colombia and less so Belgium above them... I would expect Brazil to beat all three if they all had full strength squads.... and of course Brazil DID beat Colombia....

I would still be backing Brazil....

While Brazil where quite clearly over fancied to win the World Cup... The level of criticism following the 7-1 defeat has also been overdone.... They are still a world class team and better than any of their neighbours.

I wouldn't bet against Brazil though beating any of their neighbours.... They usually do... With exception of the Argies Although I think they would probably beat them at the moment... I was really unimpressed by them looking back.
