It won't be them. They've not exactly got a huge history with the festival and they haven't sold out Hyde park yet. The early slot ain't gonna get much TV coverage, so publicity ain't gonna be huge. No folk or dance? So Mumford or Avicii wouldn't pull numbers?

The slot is down for 45 mins I think. 45 mins on Other Stage on Friday lunch is a far different proposition than 90 minutes as the sun goes down on the Park. I just can't imagine any big names really wanting to do this slot. No romance, no time, no atmosphere. I'd expect a Franz F or Klaxons at best.

Klaxons have just announced a 3D printed tour. Now I'm very fond of their debut but that is the most tinpot thing I've ever heard. Also they are playing academy 3 in manchester. Honestly as an unannounced guest the fucking enemy would be more 'wow' than them.

Ah, I didn't know this. That said I don't think the evening gig rules out the Other Stage slot - they wouldn't be expected to perform with all the bells and whistles. They could even borrow kit. It does make them more unlikely though.
