st dan
Hypothetically, if Prince said 'I'll only do a secret set' what do you think the response would be? I don't think it will be Prince, I think he'd get more time.
Gucci Piggy
I genuinely think they'd say no and try to convince him to headline with a 2 hour set in the coming years. Prince headlining the Pyramid on a Saturday night or a 45 min slot at 11am on the Other Stage? Hmmmm
Englishdragon
I'm sure a 45 minute set on the Other would probably help convince him to headline in the future though.
Gucci Piggy
It would completely destroy the "mystique" around him playing Glastonbury though "Hey Glastonbury have finally convinced Prince to headline" "so? I saw him play his hits on the other stage the other year"
Ruwise
Oh dear looks like Prince will be replacing Daft Punk for fake rumours this year.
jackarmy
Prince will be playing on Friday. In The Beat Hotel, for around 2 hours.

rpfranks
For me it's got to be The Libertines. Pete is playing UK solo shows on 25th June and 1st, 2nd & 3rd of July as well as UK shows with The Libertines on 28th & 29th June and the 5th of July. If you were to put 2 + 2 together it seems like there is no show on 26th June only because of a potential 11am Glastonbury stage time on 27th June. It seems as if that they are tying him down to a last minute routine in the run up to the Libertines shows so he's in the swing of things. The last thing Glastonbury would want is to have tens of thousands of people waiting for a special guest band at 11am that doesn't even show up. FWIW I saw Babyshambles in Birmingham a few months ago and they were about 45 minutes late. And it's said Pete is still a regular drug user so perhaps he's not the most reliable person.. still. If it's not The Libertines then my outside bet is Monty Python as a preview to the O2 Arena shows.
DL50
I know the programme talked about it being a rock band, has anything ruled out QOTSA or Foo Fighters?? Sorry if it's already been mentioned
Gucci Piggy
The programme didn't talk about it being a rock band.

I'm the editor of a small music website and have just found out that Gaslight Anthem are flying in to the country this week and available for press on Thursday. Could it be them ? marcwilson87
My best mate works with a friend of Carl Barats mum. He asked her to see if she could get any info on if The Libs are playing Glastonbury. He's just replied... "If the Libertines are playing, Carl Barat hasn't told his Mum." EDIT: To add, apparently Carl is filming in France. No idea when he's back. Edited June 23, 2014 by marcwilson87
johntrfc
Don't think they're a big enough name but that would make my weekend. They have a new single premièring tomorrow, presumably on Zane Lowe's program.
Riggins
I mean, they're playing Alexandra Place and Motorpoint Arena as well as some fairly sizeable theatres in November, plus they're on a major which would imply good contacts, plus they have a new single on Zane Lowe this week, plus they're in the UK for press, plus they've played the festival a few times before and gone down well. Really trying to convince myself here.
rpfranks
I personally don't think it'll be Gaslight Anthem as I'm not sure they're big enough but the fact they've flown in to the UK this week for press would suggest to me that they'll be about at some point. US bands generally tend to fly in to the UK about 4-5 days before a major festival to do radio, tv, print press. It also usually coincides with some kind of single/exclusive play announcement which is what Radio 1 have tomorrow night. Their next show isn't until July 5th in Canada so that gives them a full week here before flying back. Definitely feasible for them to appear at some point over the weekend. Staff_Sav
Gaslight Anthem would more likely be the John Peel TBA or Thursday Williams Green act if they are playing surely?

Riggins
Too big for both of them imo, the venues they're playing are similar if not bigger than those Beady Eye were playing. Obviously Liam Gallagher is a big name though.
