Can't deny I'm a bit jealous of everyone going. Who wouldn't be? Just saying I think there's having a difference of opinion and then really putting someone down because there opinion is different than yours. I have seen it really bad in the kasabian topic ( I'm a kasabian fan) I see people just devices I'm a piss throwing lager lout who beats woman when I resent both those things. I don't think it gets anymore insulting than that.

I've been reading these forums daily since July 2009. Some posters I largely disagree with almost everything they have to say, others I cannot stand and have considered blocking. But many have provided loads of advice and help when I've needed a question answered.

HOWEVER......a forum is what you make it. Take part.. Have your say...Get involved... The amount of lurkers that creep out of the woodwork only to say negative things about the people who post I find most annoying..... Speak up and make a change if you think it needs one.

I'm not sure what you mean, isn't talking about the negative things people are saying speaking up? Or do you mean speaking up in some other way, like ignoring the bad things people are saying and just say good things instead?

I mean join in the debates and speak up at the time if your read something you strongly disagree with. Put your points of view across as part of the forum. Only piping up to say "I don't like some things some people say" is a bit pointless and not very productive whereas getting involved a bit more may encourage different views and opinions. A forum is only as good as it's posters and so if you don't post yourself (apart from simply to say you don't like the vibe here) how can you moan?

Some people are oversensitive, some people won't post through fear of looking stupid. Remember the first time you looked at forums, I bet you had some fear of posting anything that could possibly get a negative reaction and then boom, all of a sudden you can't stop posting, most of it rubbish, sometimes funny, sometimes informative. It's the personal attacks I don't like, but then maybe some idiot posters deserve it.

So, it's good to sometimes think of the person or general readers at the other end before you attack the keyboard with stuff you wouldn't expect to get away with in real life.

Just saying.

Well said. I try to stop twice and think before posting something that could be interpreted negatively. Even then I still found myself in this position a couple of nights ago:

The other thing to consider is that there may well be vulnerable people on here that are getting shouted down for voicing an unusual opinion, or overly obvious statement. Thinking of that usually stops me from posting overly harshly. The thing that baffles me is that sometimes people post as if understanding each other on a forum is easy, and that what the other person has said is wrong. The reality is that understanding what someone has said is hard, understanding the wider context to their point is hard and actually comprehending how strong a particular position is on a subject is really hard. Anyone care to discuss how big Prince is? :)

Anyway, I actually think this forum is going through one of it's more lovely, less aggressive times at the moment!

Not in particular, just that last post. Wasn't meant as a general dig, just responding to the last comment. Didn't mean any offence. In fact my comment was a prime example of what can be wrong with forums. I saw an opportunity to make a cheap quip, despite it being easy to misinterpret and not particularly nice. Sorry about that!

Incidentally, I have a friend on Facebook who makes passive aggressive posts all the time, who I kid you not posted something along the lines of "sick of some people on here making passive aggressive posts all the time". I don't think there was any nice way of pointing out the irony!
