A moment you realise you have over done it

.... In 2011, I was there waiting for QOTSA to come on and help close my festival. Id had a great time. Maybe it was the lack of sleep, maybe the heat, maybe the joyous mood, but I really enjoyed the Kaiser Chiefs who were subbing.

After they finished I thought "they were great". It was at that point I realised "I think Ive over done it this weekend, it's time for a lie down after QOTSA, just buy a water and you'll be ok"

Has anyone else had moments of clarity in such strange ways at glasto?

I was having an argument in my tent with myself once and still didn't realise, but enjoying the kaisers, thats too far.

(Odd topic I know, but Im bored)

QOTSA was a special moment for me too. At the end I was overwhelmed by the munchies (I mean ravenous, get out of my way starving) and dragged my wife across the field against the crowds to a pie and mash shop. I devoured it all in minutes, with my hands, in a disgusting hyena on carrion kind of way, much to the disgust of those around me.

Very quickly afterwards I needed a lie down.

On the Sunday evening of 2007 my brain kind of imploded. I realised I needed to eat for the first time that festival and then get back to my tent, lest I be seen sobbing in public. I managed to get food and bring it back to the tent where I ate it like it was my last meal on earth. It was kind of OK while I was eating. By OK I mean I was riddled with anxiety but had the food to concentrate my thoughts on. Once the food had gone the demons returned. I peered over the edge that night. I reckon one more step and I'd not be the sane, well adjusted person I am now.

2008. I drank all way through from Thursday lunchtime through to v late Fri night / early Sat morning.

Saturday, about 2pm, everything caught up with me. I tried to watch a couple of bands at John Peel, sat outside. And felt worse.

Ended up finding peace in the Cinema field (empty during the day) and lying still for about 2 hours. During that time I genuinely thought I'd done myself damage and needed to go home.

Slowly, the body settled. I realised I was hungry, and ate about 20 mini spring rolls.

I wasn't right-as-rain after that... But I was a lot better.

not at Glastonbury, but Bestival 2012: me and my friends had booked a straight coach journey (with a few stops) from Liverpool to Bestival that totalled around 16 hours (hell, might've been more) through the night. me and my friend thought it'd be a good idea, instead of trying to catch some sleep, to key a load of drugs all the way there to keep us awake. got there, partied all Wednesday, and by the end of the day i'd entered some kind of sleep deprived / drug fuelled madness. i don't remember it myself but my friend told me i just ran off at one point and after he grabbed me and pulled me back i informed him i was chasing a little gnome. woke up the next morning sprawled across all of my possessions in my tent after having apparently passed out at around 10pm with the worst comedown i've ever had and a lot less drugs than i intended to have for the rest of the weekend (and had lost all of my girlfriends drugs which she wasn't happy about - they turned up Sunday morning hidden in my tent and all was forgiven)

Not at Glastonbury but I once met a DJ at a bar while I was having a drink or two with a friend during the day. This bloke came over and started talking to us. It turns out he had just left Amsterdam after doing DJ'ing there for some months. On his last night in Amsterdam he ate a whole fly agaric mushroom and went mad. He had to be manhandled by friends and locked in to a bedroom. When it eventually went quiet his friends opened the door to see him lying down with his mouth open trying to eat his rucksack. Apparently he thought he'd turned into a boa constrictor and thought of his bag as prey which he should eat. Now that's going too far - even by my own shoddy standards.

2009 on the Saturday night , i think we ended up in the big globe looking dance venue that was in the south east corner, i realised i'd had enough when i kept falling over the wooden bar that went around the edge of the structure .... 3 times!

2013 On wednesday afternoon! So happy to be there and sorted we went on a walk to find food and saw the Brothers bar with no one there. Four Brothers later having not slept the night before or eaten . I later awoke face down between our tents after being carried there by my freinds. That wrote off the rest of the day asnd into Thursday morning as i went on a marathon sleep to get over it.
