Is the transmission stage still part of T and if so, what can we expect?

Looking at the poster under the "entertainment across the weekend" section. It could have changed to "The Palm Stage" ??

To say that I'm thoroughly pissed off about the absence of this stage is something of an understatement. For me, it's been T's saving grace these past few years. As a successor to the Pet Sounds stage, Futures Tent, X Tent or whatever, it featured a wide range of cult bands and those offering something a bit different from the mass market music that dominates the bigger stages.

Those acts are still out there and doing the rounds at other festivals. By choosing not to book them, T has made it very clear that it has no further interest in offering a diverse line-up that will have something to offer for a wide range of music lovers. It's arguable that this has been the case for some time but the Transmission stage, at least offered us something of an alternative. I was hoping that this stage would present us with the likes of Anna Calvi, St Vincent, Crystal Fighters, The Phantom Band & Broken Records for starters - I'm sure you could all pick many good bands that could feature - but no, we're not getting that or anything remotely like that. Nor even an explanation (unless I've missed something).

I'll still be there this year. There's a handful of bands on the other stages I want to see and I'm always hopeful that there'll be something decent on the BBC Introducing and T Break stages (in addition to The Amazing Snakeheads who I'm really looking forward to). But if there's no return to a more varied bill and a continuing absence of the Transmissions tent (or similar) I probably wont be back. DF wont care of course as being a bit older and having attended for the past 20 years I'm not in their target demographic. But you have to ask, was it really neccessary to do away with this stage (and not reduce the ticket price accordingly)?

Pretty shocked. Rising prices with less choices. My be my last full weekend at T. The missus may get her wish of a family holiday next year
