mattgimmeshelter
I love wellies, I think they are the greatest things when a festival suffers from mud and lashings of rain! Yet year on year I feel I always have to advise someone to bring them to a festival! I've had a few questions from festival newbies asking "why would we bring wellies?" as if the image of a sun kissed festival has been commercialised so much that sun is expected for every festival - when unfortunately it is not always present. Anyone else had to deal with the frustration in the past of that friend in your group that forgets their wellies? Or do you usually not care, and just watch them sink in the mud? Have you ever had to brave a festival without wellies in harsh weather? One of mine broke before and it was not a nice experience! Whoever started bringing them in for outdoor events, had the greatest idea in the world, countless times they have saved me from bad mud, which could of ruined my weekend if I wasn't equipped with them. atomised
I've always found a sturdy pair of boots way better than wellies. Never felt comfortable in them and always advised others accordingly
Katster
Wellies are ok but walking boots are better (they just don't look as good). I'm a bit silly though and often end up not wearing any shoes, especially if its rained but then the sun comes out. It's a lot of fun. Yeah yeah I know one of these days I will prolly slit my foot open but life's too short to not experience complete barefoot every now and then... Paul ™
Good boots every time, with gaiters if the mud is that deep.
atomised
I definitely find you don't get enough grip with wellies and it's so difficult to get a decent fit
LondonTom
Walking boots and gaiters are far better and more comfortable...in fact I find almost anything compared to standing in wellies all day better On the last point, haven't wellies since they were invented been designed for wet conditions in fields? Its hardly a work of genius to use them at an outdoor event
windy_miller
I used to wear walking boots at festivals for years. After Glasto 2007 though I decided to buy some wellies and have never looked back!
Rufus Gwertigan
Walking boots and gaiters (not garters they're useless) as well as an ample supply of socks (or stockings if using garters).
atomised
Do you have a favoured brand of walking boots?

Narnia
At Glastonbury 2011 on the Sun night I was dancing for hours to an old skool set and forgot to wear long socks. Next day... oh dear!!! Never forget these now, but I do prefer wellies in lots of mud to walking boots. Although they can slip off in bad mud... My profile picture is of 2011 Glastonbury... a pile of discarded wellies that got wrecked lol
