That's because it is. If you want an imaginative booking for download, you've got muse subbed by faith no more tomorrow.

This, Andy knows today announcement has pleased as many people as it has made people go meh.

How many people will go to Download for the first time next year? How many people go regardless.

End of the day you have

Priest who have played once before and not for 7 years

Muse who have never played download

Faith No More who have played once before and not for 6 years

KISS who have played once before and not for 7 years

Crue who have played a few times but not for 6 years and their last year of touring ever.

Thats 5 of the top 9 spots.

ADTR and FFDP are bands who have gained massively in popularity and Andy is giving a push to, neither have played that high on main stage before.

Slash hasn't played main stage in 5 years, a lot of people, myself included won't have seen him when he headlined second stage 3 years ago.

So how the fuck are the bookings unimaginative and Download like groundhound day is as lazy as you're saying Copping is being, I'll slag off download when it deserves it, but I think this line up deserves praise. Slipknot is the only lazy booking on main and they've just released a new well received album and completely sold out standing at a massive UK arena tour within a week, the demand is there.

Black Stone Cherry have played a lot yes, but last year was a little set in a tent and they just did a big arena tour so obviously the demand is there for them too. If it was Bullet getting the big slots and they're struggling to sell out tours and still getting big spots ever year yeah moan, it it was Motorhead who get booked in 3rd on main every year but had to give away tickets free to their recent arena tour cus it sold so badly yeah moan, but its neither of those acts or the other usual suspects.

People will always moan no matter what

If you honestly don't think booking the same main & 2nd stage headliner on the same day as last year is lazy I don't know what it? Book them both but not in the exact same spots. You're essentially pissing in faces of people who went last year.

Don't want a Slipknot repeat, then go to 2nd stage......Oh

Completely agree with the rest of it. Apart from FFDP, how many times have they played too? Main stage 2013?

They are going for ticket selling headline acts, after last year's lower tickets sales you can't blame them for that.

With Muse and slipknot the festival will sell very well, so you can't really blame them for that. Will get punters going to download for the first time, get fans who go every year and with the classic bands get non festival goers buying tickets.

Pretty much ticks all the boxes with the expected 15 odd bands this week.

If you saw Slipknot last time, go see BSC. If you saw BSC last time, go see Slipknot. If you don't like or want to see either, go to third.

Slipknot in 2013 was the shit (and apparently a last resort) booking. Slipknot now isn't because of new material from the biggest current metal band.

I don't like two of the headliners and couldn't really give a toss about the other, but I think they've done well to scoop what's available this year and it should do well for sales too.

Or if you watched Slipknot last year as the 2nd stage option wasn't to your tastes. Then Slipknot come back & then you get the exact same 2nd stage option?

I can kind of understand the FFDP thing (not sure if they've grown in popularity that much) but repeating the same main & 2nd stage headliners on the same day as last year is inexcusable.

Thing is, sometimes Andys hands are tied in regards to bands schedules with other festivals, I also think BSC work best against Slipknot than the other two headliners, I understand where you're coming from, I do, but expect a metal headliner on second tomorrow and people will moan if they clash with Slipknot and Shikari on Sunday surely share same fanbase as Slipknot and Muse as in a younger act than KISS? So I think he's just done his best in the situation.

The shitstorm he got when he clashed Slipknot with Prodigy in 09, sometimes you just can't win.

I fully expect a metal 2nd stage headliner against Muse, it makes perfect sense. My point is that there a literally no other (non metal) bands available who could/would headline 2nd against Slipknot? BSC are the single only option? I seriously doubt that. It's more like that he personally likes them, they'll happily play & so it's an easy, stress free booking. Hoping for Clutch, Gallows or ETID on 3rd.

Anyway, the rest of the rumoured line up is pretty much spot on & I think they've got the weakest announcement out of the way early as big hitters are left to come.

Hellfest are apparently announcing 128 bands tonight, that'll give us a good idea of what to expect for the rest of the bill.

I'd bet my left nut on it....

Although I lost my right one in a bet 2 years ago, so make of that what you will

I hope you know that should your info prove correct, every time you post about anything you're gonna be met with "Hey Lightning. Got any word on the Bestival big top headliner?" and if you make a prediction, "is that something you've heard?" :P

I think it's a strong lineup overall, and nice to see newer bands like ADTR and FFDP getting pushed up into the top three acts.

Like people have said, yeah Slipknot played in 2013, but ignoring that they've got the biggest current metal band in the world headlining on the back of their first album in six years. Muse are arguably the biggest band in the country and have an incredible stage show, and KISS are just KISS. Everybody knows who KISS are, whether its just the makeup and not the band itself, if that makes sense? Looking forward to finding out the second stage headliner opposite Muse tomorrow. Marilyn Manson or Lamb Of God is my shout :)
