I think Man U's best bet at the moment is a 4-4-2 diamond, although I do think LVG will stick with three at the back. He's probably spent the entire Summer coaching it, and he seems a stubborn old fart, so I can't see him abandoning it yet.

I'd play this:

--------De Gea--------

Rafael Jones Rojo Shaw

--------Blind---------

Herrera-------Di Maria

--------Mata----------

-----Falcao RVP-------

But I think he'll play this:

----------De Gea----------

-----Jones Evans Rojo-----

Rafael Blind Di Maria Shaw

----------Rooney----------

--------Falcao RVP--------

Ouch

came apparently from his dad via twitter. Villa bid £8m, cleverly wanted to goto Everton. Everton either won't or can't bid 8m for a player in the last 12 months of his contract and are hoping to pick him up for free or a nominal sum in 6-12 months. I guess the quickly arranged loan move to villa is to try to soften his opinion of them and keep his value up.

The falcao deal is a bit of a no Brainerdon't you think? What ever argument you want to push falcao is on £180,000pw, £350,000pw or Monaco are paying nearly half the wages to get the deal through for next season.

The loan deal is practically paid with the Hernandez loan deal and the wages of wellbeck and Hernandez has paid his wages.

Well then it's a ridiculous comparison then as you could say the same about virtually all football clubs in the top 4 divisions in England.

At the extreme, yes.

Tho are Chelsea teetering on the edge for all the while they have Roman as owner? Nope. But Utd are with the Glazers as owners, even before the downturn on the field, the spending of £200M, and the loss of £50M+ income pa.

And mores the point, it ends up keep getting said because Utd fans just won't accept there's any possibility.

Excellent point here which has been missed: Man Utd did Arsenal a big favor by selling them wellbeck. If Arsenal didn't get him, they would be screwed in terms of striking options. Now, they are strengthened in that area. Why do that with a team they are (in theory) competing against for top 4?

Supposedly they wanted him to go to Spurs, but he insisted on Arsenal. They probably needed him gone to make space for Falcao, and with Arsenal being the only option they took it. Unlike the Vermaelen situation where there were other clubs (Barca) for him to go to.

Yeah, but he would have strengthened Spurs as well in terms of clubs they are competing against...

but if it was done last night it wouldn't need approval!

Every window there's a number of dodgy-looking late deals go thru. Normally they involve 'Arry.

I think they just need final approval if they get a certain amount of paper work in by 11 and the deal is put on some sort of list as long its not an international transfer.

Here it is, which doesn't really explain this one as it was a while after 9pm it became clear Everton had droped intrest? Unless Villa had already put him on the deal sheet when they thought they had him?

http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/news/features/transfer-deadline-day-how-deals-get-done.html

Clubs sometimes conclude deals at the last minute and it is not always easy for them to get everything completed and sent over by 11pm. The deal sheet allows a club to confirm that a deal has been reached in order to allow for additional time to submit the remaining documentation.

The sheet cannot be used prior to 9pm and needs to arrive fully completed before the transfer window closes. Once the sheet arrives, clubs have got until 1am in which to submit the full paperwork. But if a club are looking to complete an international transfer, it still has to comply with the FIFA Transfer Matching System (TMS) deadline of midnight.

I find it interesting how wellbeck has gone from only an international because he plays for United to arsenal's saviour.

That's not an excellent point, it's a fairly obvious question with an obvious answer. Why would Man Utd sell him to Arsenal? Because they want the money, want to trim the squad, know Arsenal will stump up £16mil for him and are happy to 'risk' selling him to a 'rival' because they don't believe he's going to have that much impact for them.

Can't see how Welwide improves Arsenal's striking options anyway. He'as another 'can cover up front if we need him to' player along with Podolski and Walcott.

There are probably a number opf definitions of 'done'. Every year there are deals that are submitted before the deadline but aren't processed until afterwards that are allowed to go through, I'd imagine Villa are claiming that this is one of them.

It was "done" and then not done and then he was Everton. Maybe they can still the original Villa contract even though they/he/Utd initially turned it down?

Well if they wanted him out and those were the only options, what else can they do? It's Danny Welbeck, it'll probably stop Arsenal going out and signing any decent striker for the next 5 years, so it's probably a good thing for Man U anyway.

Cleverley deal was apparently held up at Utd's end because they were working on Falcao coming in and Welbeck going out, Cleverley deal was pushed to the back of the queue, both clubs had agreed to it but everything wasn't approved.

The deal is He's signed a season long loan but either party can cancel the deal in Jan.

So if Villa feel it isn't working they can cancel the loan and send him back

If Utd line up a buyer and Villa don't match it or Everton I guess get a bid accepted or whoever and Cleverey wants to go there over Villa, the loan can be terminated and he moves to new club in Jan.

Also hearing Villa have an agreed price of £7.5m if they want to buy him in Jan.

No he isn't. He's a striker who often gets played on the wing, out of position. Podolski and Walcott are wingers who sometimes get played up front, out of position.

He improves their striking options because, without him, Sanogo would have been first choice striker until January.
