TheGayTent
Has downing been playing that position all season? He was very impressive. No. Just Hull and now Liverpool.

The Nal
Liverpool need to phase out Gerrard. He offers nothing. Does nothing apart from take penos. This is a harsh reality. Check out his "defending" here for the third goal at 8 mins 40. Amalfitano jogged in behind him. He's gone. We'll be ok when injured players return - we'll it settles down, but we need to sort something as a contingency. Spurs was us at our best, but the team's a shambles at the moment.. Without Flanagan, Allen, Sturridge and effectively without Coutinho we haven't got that drive and intensity. Gerrard though. Still a great leader in the changing room and the training pitch but others need the game time and responsibility now. strummer77
I thought the signing all these squad player were to make you cope with injuries. They are. But I think what's happened is that instead of bedding them in slowly, we've lost key players and suddenly are relying on half fit new signings. Basically not much has gone right for us and then some shambolic defending and some uncharacteristically bad tactical decisions have only compounded our woes. Yeah there is still a role for Gerrard, but it is now the Scholes/Giggs role they had in later years at United. Pick and choose their game time and milk their influence. It's going to be a transitional season, although we could do worse than get Carragher or Thompson in to give the defence a bollocking. pink_triangle
Agree completely about Ayre, hasn't ever filled me with confidence. Liverpool didn't only but Southampton players! Moreno is/will be a quality player, Can is a very promising young German player. Mario was always worth a punt at ยฃ16m but he needs help up front, unlike Suarez who could basically do it on his own. The big complaint about Liverpool last season, apart from the defence, was the size of the squad. They have tried to address this but they can't afford to pay silly wages unlike some clubs. I don't know enough about Can but feel Liverpool need midfielders for now and not 2 years time. The likes of Moreno and Lovren were bought as first team starters, but I wonder if there was a little complacency with the midfield. I wanted to see a top class central midfielder for 2014 who could be the focus of the team, instead I felt there was too much focus on quantity, as opposed to quality. Also you wonder if they would have been better not loaning Origi back as Im sure he could have had decent game time. The funny thing about Liverpools success is that since the window you got Coutinhio and Sturridge their have been more misses than hits in my view. Last seasons second place wasn't really built on the summer transfer window at all. I hoped that you would take advantage more with your champions league position, instead I look at the summers signings and suspect you could have got most of them even if you had finished 5th. My only doubt with Rodgers is if he can attract the standard of players to Liverpool for the club to reach their potential. I don't disagree with the scholes/giggs comparison, however the big difference is that Gerrard is the most influential man at anfield while fergie was at old Trafford. You get the impression Gerrard will be phased out when he decides its time, probably the day he retires.
pink_triangle
Liverpool may not be great defensively, but at least there's one big team who are worse!

The Nal
Cheats never prosper...!https://vine.co/v/OW3HHA3MAuO Just shit. Shocked how badly hes gone downhill. He wouldn't even make it into Utds defence at this rate! Jesus fucking Christ. That defensive "performance" from Utd today. On a more positive note Rooney looks like a proper captain.
