Guitar/Nos/Champagne

Sooooo

This year, bringing my newliest husband for the first time to the festival I'm so excited because he has no idea what he's in for and I know he's going to lose his mind to the happiness that is glasto.

With our wedding cash we have purchased a new tent and other nice things, you know cups (including a flag so if you're in michaels mead look for the saltire with 'just married' on it and come say hi!!) and I had a few questions...

I've always resisted taking a guitar to the festival but is it a good idea because I really really want to take it and since we are coming super minimal on other stuff and on the coach I can have it....

Our friend got us some lovely Champagne and I really want to bring it, it's not decantable and I will dispose of the bottle properly, if I stick it in with the tent what is the likelihood it'll get taken off us?

Another lovely friend bought us some nos, we brought a crapload before in 08 and our car was searched but the security were cool with it, however I noticed on the site its a big no no now? Just wondering if it was the same in 13 and did anyone get it taken off them etc?

CHHHEEEEEEEEERS!!!!

Guitar - Go for it! Providing it's one you don't mind getting damaged or lost / stolen. Not that it will but no point in bringing a Martin D1 and watching it like a hawk all weekend.

Champagne - if security find the bottle they will take it off you. Glass is not allowed at all, even if you plan to dispose of properly. if you guys are looking to have a celebratory marriage drink there's venues around Shangri-La and the Park that sell bubbly.

NOS - Another no no as the canisters often get left behind and cause damage to the farm / cows after the festival. There's a thread on here regarding it but to summarise, there's too much involved for a short hit, coupled with the waste products and not sure of the legality of them or whether or not security will take them off you. But, if you wanna do it go ahead, it's up to you!

P.S Congrats on the marriage!

Have a great festival :)

The cows do not want you to.

DO NOT BE SELFISH.

Another lovely friend bought us some nos

have a strong cup of coffee instead and get more out of your head.

Nos is banned.

You will ruin the weekend of others.

DO NOT BE SELFISH.

I like you for your honesty, so if i say to you take your special wedding cups out around site then if i see you i will gladly buy you a glass of bubbly to have a drink (but it might be fizzy cider, will that do?). Enjoy your festival x

There's a champagne stall between Pyramid and Stone Circle. Sorry I can't be any more specific. It all goes hazy!

Anyway it's got a big green bottle sticking up for a roof. So shouldn't be too hard to miss.

My friend always buys a bottle on the Sunday and they keep the bottle back for her so whenever she's passing she can top up.

Me on the other hand, I'm opting for Sparking Perry in a pink can! 50p a can in Morrisons. Probably the most embarrassing thing I've bought in there as I had to call the lady over to check my age on the self scans.

Haha brilliant! I've never look for bubble in previous years but it is a special occasion so I will, the boy will probably be more concerned with ale in avalon! Either way will be joyous! I've found a friend to re-adjust the street guitar before we come so as I said pop in if your around michaels mead at any point were the just married tent with the saltire :) XxX

Not sure I understand the point of taking a guitar to a music festival! However you said you were going on the coach so that meant you could? Coaches are quite strict with their luggage and they'll see a guitar as an unnecessary item of luggage if the coach gets too full, and could turn it away. I've said it on quite a few threads now but a driver we had made a load of lads with a lot of booze wait at the back of the queue and if it didn't fit then it wasn't coming with them.

And as others have said no glass, no nitrous oxide. Big fat no to both I'm afraid. Both are against the rules of the festival so as I'm sure you will, respect what they say. :)

Have a lovely time and congratulations on becoming newlyweds.

Im taking it as me hand luggage! I'm a small lady and never really put my feet on the floor when coaching it (which is often) and I do have a very good 'but just for me?' look that hasn't often failed if it's a real problem my dudes work is round the corner so I could run it round there!

I also found in another thread Lidl do cans of prosecco :D so thats exciting! pop by when off duty payneruk! We have lots of wedding rum too and maybe you can point us in the direction of the bubbly bar though I think I actually know where it is now.

Tent arrived today tooo, super excited glasto times!!!!!! Hope your all ready!!

We'll be at the stone circle with a few guitars at various points in the festival - one of my favourite things is getting other people to come over and play a few songs with us - it's like a mini open mic.. there's some great talent out there! (and some other stuff) - might make an impromptu song with a NOS solo...

Congratulations! What a wonderful way to celebrate your recent marriage, at the best place on earth!

I have looked in Lidl for cans of Prosecco and I could not find any so I bought some Bellini in cans from Asdal. I will definitely be looking for the wine bar that sells Champers this year though, thanks for the tip!

I'm getting married in September so I'm super excited generally this year

I haven't tried this personally... but I've read that if you get the Champagne really really cold and then decant it into plastic very carefully, sealing it tight without leaving much air space, and then keep that plastic bottle as cold as possible, then it's still decent when re-opened.

I wouldn't do it with a bottle that's expensive or has sentimental value, but if you'd like a glass of fizz on arrival then it might be worth trying.
