Atmosphere on coaches

Last year was my first Glasto and the only ticket I could get was a coach ticket on the Thursday from Stoke. I was proper giddy for it but on the way down no one seemed that up for it, you wouldn't have guessed we were on our way to Glasto!

I'm getting the coach again this year out of choice from Manchester, hoping there's a little more excitement.

What are other peoples experiences, atmosphere wise on getting the coach down?

I've been on both the Seetickets and National Express coaches from London, and my experience seems to have been the same as yours. Having said that, I don't think the drivers are particularly keen on a sing song and drinking is frowned upon so I'm not sure what to expect in the way of outward signs of excitement.

Maybe I could work on cultivating a schoolgirl giggle. ;)

Tbh, I try use my time on the coach or bus to top up on sleep, and that suits me just fine. Drinking is not allowed on NE (although you might get away with a discreet swig of vodka), smoking obviously not - sleep is good, there won't be much of it once you get there. :-)

But each to their own.

My experience on the See coach from Sheffield in 2011 was similar to yours. It felt to me as though most people were only on there as it was the only option left in the resale (as it was for me), and they were a bit anxious about getting to Glasto and getting set up as soon as possible before all the best spots were taken. Our coach didn't arrive until 4pm on the Wednesday, but I can only imagine the anxiety being even worse travelling on the Thursday.

Was also on the Seecoaches last year, it was very early in the morning so not a party atmosphere as such but everyone was excited and very friendly and chatty. We were sat beside this American man who flew over specifically for the festival and chatted with him quite a bit. Nice guy!

I've traveled by bus twice to 2 different festivals, the 1st time was a private one and was a bit of a party because everyone new eachother.

The 2nd was booked of a website so was all randomers, a lot quieter though everyone was really friendly and talkative when we got off the bus at various stops to smoke or toilets or whatever, we kept ourselves to ourselves on the bus!
