i don't think there'll be a TBC headliner on the poster, but i definitely wouldn't be against it - we're well aware of the struggles the festival has supposedly had in booking Prince, so if having him on the poster as a TBC initially is what they have to do to secure him, then that's fine by me!

Hold up, Matt, when I suggested Prince may be TBC on the poster didn't you tell me the only reason there was a TBC last year was because of Metallica's exclusivity, and so exclusivity would be the only reason for a TBC this year?

Hold up a second Will, are you calling Matt inconsistent!?

Potentially because I was expecting us to have the lineup by now and I didnt think prince was a possibility at all.

I don't agree at all. Of all the festivals to not sell tickets based on the line up, it's Glasto, so it's not like it's a huge issue for the Eavises. On top of that Glasto doesn't pay what headliners would make from other shows, so holding back a name from the line up (if that's what the artist wants) seems like it'd be silly to refuse out of principle.

But all the artist should want is to play glastonbury, leave all the rest of the ego type bollocks at the gate, if not then fuck off. Glastonbury should dictate when the line up is announced, not potential performers. Edited by oneeye

But there is usually an agreement in place between the festival and headliners that states they won't annouce until after they have put their own shows on sale (if they are playing their own shows around the same time)

I had a thought just now regarding P***** - if he was to play, how would he feel about the festival selling t-shirts and posters with his name on them? (alongside the rest of the lineup obviously)

Would he do like AC/DC did at download a few years back and demand that they didn't put his name on any merchandise? I'm not saying he would but just a thought nonetheless...

It's only when stuff like this is suggested that i truly realise how weird of a bloke Prince is. What drives someone to be like this? Where they become completely swallowed by their ego and reality fades around them.

But the likelihood of Prince playing bears no relevance to whether he'd be TBC on the poster if he's playing.

I don't even know.

I know, I know; money. It all boils down to how much of a greedy bastard some of these artists are. Sometimes it's good just to dwell a pause, stand back and take a real look. Some potential headliners dine out on all this speculation.

prodigy no 1 album, free on the sunday...british, not a rock act

I don't think they should and don't want them too, but a possibility?

I would honestly love them to, but Liam Howlett did a Q+A on Reddit, and said that they weren't playing.

If it is P***** and they are holding it back for him I couldn't care less when the lineup drops. Would be such a coup and one of the all time great headline performances.

However if after all this wait we end up with Taylor Swift it would be a crushing disappointment, albeit expected.

Michael Eavis (ages ago admittedly):

"Queen? Not Queen, no, no." he said. "Fleetwood Mac don't seem to be around at the moment. But we've got three excellent headliners for next year."

Pressed on the matter, Eavis added: "One of them has been around for quite a long time."

When asked whether the other two were "fairly current", Eavis replied: "Yes. It will remain a mystery until April 1 next year!"

Although to be fair that may be referring to Foo Fighters. And it's Michael.....

Foo Fighters have been a band for twenty years, which isn't very long at all really - especially, i bet, to Eavis. if he's saying an act has been around for a long time, then it's more than likely they will've been around in the 80's or earlier

For some strange reason I think this is Depeche Mode (wishful thinking maybe). They were the 1st band I thought of when I heard the quote.

Hoping that's true. And they probably want to keep the average Glastonbury goer at least slightly happy, which wouldn't be achieved with Taylor, or Flo really.. although Taylor being announced would almost be worth it because of the hilarious reaction it would cause.

It's going to be P***ce with this late announcement & medicore* headliners.

Or fuck me & it's Daft Punk. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck me.

I had a scarily realistic dream that it was Daft Punk the other night and, let me tell you, they absolutely smashed it

The dream seems to be a yearly occurrence now but sadly I don't ever think I witness it in real life..

I had this dream too! As we both did, it may just be fate... :P

The more I read about Prince, the more I realise he's just as big a c**t as Kanye West.

That's a good point - i won't be watching kanye bcause i can't stand his personality but for some reason Prince doesn't bother me... even though he is clearly a bit of a d*ck.

Last night, I had a dream about you...

... In this dream, I'm dancing right beside you. And it looked, like everyone was having fun!

As for Depeche Mode, I'd be well up for that but Emily suggested that the act wasn't one of the major rumours, and arguably Depeche Mode were rumoured (At least at first, when they were touring)...
