Sorry to be a nuisance, but without trawling through the last 50 pages, where are we at headliner wise? I've been away for a while.

All I've seen is the recent Eavis story - are we not getting Fleetwood or is he talking Eavis again/are we getting Taylor Swift?

Thanks :D

Foos seem likely. Fleetwood Mac don't. Taylor Swift has a gig in London the same weekend as Glastonbury.

I suppose but I thought that sometimes the higher up acts are personally asked by the Glasto team or even one of the Eavii?

no. their touring manager/booking agents are contacted. or their reps shop acts around to various promoters and tell them that X will be touring (eg.) Europe in (eg.) June and July.

for major acts this will often be done a year in advance, sometimes more depending on the size of the act and the scale of their tour.

i seriously doubt Taylor Swift knows or cares who Michael or Emily Eavis are.

Of course, but the point I was making was that first choice might have been Swift under Fleetwood. Obviously when they find out the Mac aren't availably that would have to change

that would be pretty stupid and unlikely planning. they'll have an idea of who's touring and who's available. they wouldn't book Taylor Swift on the assumption that they would get Fleetwood Mac. they would be at negotiations for headliners like FM much earlier than someone like Taylor Swift, and would know if they were available or not from a very early stage.

all of this is really daft too. "OMG act is playing the UK that weekend, they MUST be playing Glastonbury!!!"

the reality is that Taylor Swift is almost certainly not playing, let alone any sort of fantasy scenarios about her being booked specifically to sub-headline a band that were quite possibly never planning on playing in the first place.

Drowned In Sound have run a wonderful article on Taylor Swift today http://drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4148437-why-has-the-world-fallen-under-taylor-swifts-spell

If any actual headliner news turns up, then the Taylor Swift fanclub will create our own thread and retreat there, until such a time as this, we will continue to occupy/troll the headliners thread.

I'd be surprised if Beyonce didn't know considering she was there watching Jay Z in 2008. :P

Illuminati hard light hologram was there, Beyonce was drinking goat's blood in a pyramid, worshiping Baal. Wake up, sheeple.

i'm being this

#GlastoShakeItOff15

She brings quite a stage show

Wouldn't describe myself as a Taylor Swift fan but I would be down with it if that's the kind of live show she'd put on. Has a few tunes and I'd almost certainly never pay to see her at her own gig so, providing she doesn't clash with someone unmissable, I'd check her out.

Just been thinking; were the Eagles actually in discussion with Glastonbury for this summer? Because we know they were in the area at the time of Glastonbury and that rumour got pretty strong, but they were just playing arena shows and still had a few of those to sell. I wonder if their management might have said 'they can't this year, maybe next year'. Could be the act Eavis said had 'been around a long time' if AC/DC end up doing their own shows.

The fact Taylor Swift's name is being thrown around to play next year really depresses me :(

I get a feeling we'll know more (presumably tomorrow) when the announcement is made. She could still have dates the same weekend and/or have 'ONLY UK SHOW' stuck on it.

I've no problem with her playing - I think headlining would be a leap though. Plenty of other stages to visit in the event it did happen anyway.

There is a Taylor Swift thread now, but I'm quite enjoying all the spluttering disbelief in this one.

There's these wonderful things they introduced a while back called 'other stages.'

I can't imagine her headlining but then I can't really imagine her playing anywhere else. I suppose I just can't see her fitting in but I'd have no problem with her playing.

I could definitely have seen her subbing to someone like Fleetwood Mac but if they've pulled out or were never in place at all then I'm not sure where that leaves her.

Also, Prince played SNL.

People have said that he wouldn't be able to play Glasto with his current band, I'm confident he'd smash it with them.

Still won't happen.

Agreed on all points. Always hopeful but I doubt it'll happen.

His new band are phenomenal

I'm going to trow another name in the ring (I'm not advocating them nor would I go see them but) The Script are doing a big stadium gig in Dublin the weekend before could they be a (very) left of field possibility?

Just to have a break from the TS - AC/DC et al discussions........

nah, I think if they begged to play they'd be given a sub. But they aren't a headliner choice... It's hypocritical to say that Taylor Swift is more likely, but then she's a bit more of a name than the script.
