This thread has become the opposite of what we usually get. What happened to the overly optimistic "Led Zepplin, Prince, Bowie" predictions eh? :)

Are we hoping to under promise and over deliver?

I was just thinking that! This time last year you had huge names being banded around. I think a lot has to do with a certain somebody boasting about having the three biggest bands in the world booked, then we got headliners that completely undermined that description. It's dented hope a bit, I reckon. I'm personally still holding out for the purple one, but I'm glad nobody's really mentioning it because if he caught wind of it, we all know what would happen.

I blame Roy Hodgson. Lowering peoples expectations since 1982.

I guess so. We've had most of the real 'dream headliners' ruled out really. Jimmy Page is touring solo, Gilmour says no more Pink Floyd and he's touring solo, it'll be two years since the Bowie and Daft Punk albums, Prince is still a knob.

Foo Fighters

Eagles

Adele

That's what I'm thinking right now.

Are Eagles really likely to play Glastonbury for a small fee? I thought most people thought they were unlikely last year until we found out they were in the area at the time and Neil added them as a rumour. Don't see anything at all to make them likely this year.

That's all true, but lets not get complacent. All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.

Eh up. Someone's set off Mardy's Eagles alarm.

:)

hehehe, it's like the batsignal. Ever vigilant. And it's stopped me posting something 'orrible on the Counting Crows thread, which I'd later feel bad about, so it's all to the good.

Balls to the lot a ya. This is tantamount to cyberbullying you horrible horrible people.

And you're all wrong.

I bought both their albums at the time, and saw them live in Blackburn. But with hindsight, I wasn't in the best of health and my brief flirtation with indie rock brought me no pleasure.

I liked that one about dead people, but mainly because of the way he pronounced "up there" in his comedy Leeds accent.

You're a man full of surprises.

Swear she has an album out every fucking year.

It feels that way, doesn't it. Surprisingly, it's actually nearly two years since her last album.

  • Music of the Sun (2005)
  • A Girl like Me (2006)
  • Good Girl Gone Bad (2007)
  • Rated R (2009)
  • Loud (2010)
  • Talk That Talk (2011)
  • Unapologetic (2012)

There they are, according to wiki. I think she's just had such an insane number of singles (35 top 20 songs since 2005, including those she features in - that's nearly one every three months for the last nine years) that she feels over-saturated.

Pretty impressive cranking out 4 albums every year since 2009... That's gotta be tiring.

No doubt, and when you factor in, as I mentioned, that she's had - on average - a new song in the top 20 every three months for nine years (!!), she must have her every waking moment scheduled and managed. I don't envy her that.
