Anyone see Dogstar at Glasto '99? That was a bag of fun! Infact, thinking about that, Keanu Reeves was in Glastonbury with Nicholas Cage the other day. Maybe he was in final talks with Eavis to headline with Dogstar?!!

I was there! They were not too bad really. I remember Keanu spent a fair bit of time shaking hands and signing things after they had finished playing. He was wearing a wooly hat I seem to recall.

Not really. I've mentioned this about 3 times out of 500 odd posts, so "repeatedly" is an exaggeration, and each time was in reference to a different point.

People of course are entitled to speak their mind. But there is a tendency on this forum to give extreme responses like "X is shit" or "oh my god Y is so fucking rubbish" rather than giving a reasoned personal response such as "I'm not a big fan, because I find their tunes simplistic, however here's a good example of a similar artist".

Of course I'm generalising. But the attitude of a few frequent posters on here does make it hard for any newcomers or people who want to have a friendly discussion to join in.

I guess that's my fault for assuming that an Internet forum was a place for reasonable friendly discussion though. Ho-hum

I find, and this isn't at all in reference to yourself, that if someone is gushing in their praise of a band without providing reasons why then I tend to be more scathing in my response if I don't like them.

Well I fucking love Royal Blood. I don't care what you guys say.

Their album was a solid work of rock music, and they were fantastic when I saw them live.

Just because you say something else is better doesn't make them w*nk. Mind you I have a lot of love for Drenge and The Struts too.

This isn't a dick swinging contest, but for some reason the same bunch of pretentious twats who know everything about music on here always have to make it in to one.

Icewulf, this is, if I may, a somewhat disproportionately defensive and aggressive response to a series of posts that, whilst sharing a theme of being disparaging about a band you really like, made no reference to your post, nor to your taste in music. All that happened was that you mentioned Royal Blood, someone compared them unfavourably to Drenge, and a fee people agreed. Get over it. My kids are indescribably rude about ambient drone I listen to! It doesn't mean that your taste is not legitimate, it just means that some people don't like a band you like. I make no apology for feeling that Royal Blood are a wee bit the Emperor's New Clothes, their popularity reliant very significantly on media hype that, in my opinion musically, they do not really deserve. I feel that there are other 'similar' types of acts around who, musically, are far superior to RB, and yet garner a fraction of the publicity, and thus, success. But you really don't need to label people as pretentious, just because they feel strongly against the merits of a band, when you think they're great. Cool your jets, bud.

Based just on this single and its b-side Hooton Tennis Club will be next good new British band to headline Pyra(as well as Royal Blood and Foals)

You're right it was a needlessly aggressive response, I guess it just touched a nerve. But you've demonstrated that a negative response can still be a well reasoned and sensible one without stooping to: "nah they're shit".

For the record I'm not some massive Royal Blood fanboy. I enjoy their music, but they wouldn't feature in my top 100 favourite bands.
