I know it doesn't mean anything but the odds on Foo Fighters to headline (albeit the Sunday) are down to 4/6 now.

I'm guessing it's because people are putting money on them as the most obvious, without realising it's only for a bet on the Sunday. The 'Sunday' part was well hidden last year, it's probably the same this year.

Yeah when I went on to look at it the Sunday bit was only in small writing at the bottom.

i find it difficult to believe that they'll have both of AC/DC and Foo Fighters. It'll be one or the other.

Seeing how many likely bands have been ruled out... I won't be surprised if we don't get AC/DC either.

Looking more and more likely that the European festivals actually did move for the foos... Might be an indication that they may be one of the big ones this coming summer.

me too, but if they are both available then they are quite a stong set ..especially if they get a 'pop' headliner to balance it out..

i mean neil young and springsteen were pretty similar, where they not?

There was a story on NME news just now about Michael Eavis quitting in 2020, and the 'problem' with getting headliners (As there's only about 30 capable of doing it and he's booked most of them), so alternative is to spend more on Shangri-La to reduce dependency on headliners in future years.

However, now I can't find the story so I'm either dreaming, or they've taken it down...

http://www.efestivals.co.uk/news/14/140630a.shtml- it's not new news!

You're suggesting that NME think Glastonbury should offer more than just headline entertainment? Top of the class NME!?

Why with that idea they could sell out before the headliners are even announced, because everyone would know what a great festival it is elsewhere, if only the Eavii had thought of this years ago - oh wait....

yep, but they were strongly in line with what the fest has always presented.

Metallica last year was journeying into a new area of metal/rock. To then have two more bands that are leaning in that direction would, I think, be more than Glasto would wish to do.

I appreciate that they're not strictly the same, but if you're the sort of person where Coldplay is perhaps as rawky as you get, then they are.

true...its certainly intriging to see what they end up choosing or just who is available!

Yes, this is exactly what I've been inarticulately fumbling with and trying to say for the last few days. Spot on, i think, Neil.

I would put them in the same bracket. Head banging shit for blokes with pony tails.

On the contrary I don't know anyone who likes AC/DC and Foo Fighters who does have a ponytail. Most Foo Fighters fans I know are standard guys who like standard rock music. Funny that.

Purely depends on your social circle. The only people I have met who like music like that were at uni. Foo Fighters are not at all popular with the working classes of Manchester
