Not really bothered about the headliner much, just want a list of names to sift through so I can check out some of the smaller bands that'll be playing. Be a shame if we weren't able to familiarize ourselves with any of them until June.

Fully agree. Not arsed if it's roses, prince, whoever. I want to know, like you say the smaller bands so I can familiarise and pick bands who I'd like to see.

It must be frustrating for the smaller bands. The longer it's known they are playing = the more people check out their stuff= more album sales.

It's an example of hiw the music business ( aswell as must businesses ) bow down to the big boys whilst the little man suffers.

For me, it has to be Prince if they're delaying it until June. If it was a problem with one of these acts being announced at another festival as an exclusive, like Macca perhaps, they'd surely just announce it as a TBC like last year. Where Prince is concerned, didn't he pull out last year due to some bullshit about his name being thrown around? If the third headliner is TBC on the initial poster again, everyone is going to be talking about Prince. He knows this, and Glastonbury know this, so it sounds as though he has Glastonbury by the balls, making sure they know that he will pull out if there's any more speculation towards him headlining. It would also explain why everyone around the festival and the artist has been so hush on the matter, not allowing it to leak.

If the word gets out and he does pull out, Florence will step in.

That's my take on it anyway. I'm off to grab some beers.

I agree, this is probably the most logical and realistic scenario for the last headliner that would explain everything however I still do hope it isn't prince

Hello folks,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I come to you with absolutely no inside info or rumours whatsoever but this thread has made me laugh quite a bit over the last few days and now we've had the (possible) extension to June I thought I'd join in.

This will be my first Glastonbury so looking forward to it regardless, however I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be absolutely made up if Macca/Bowie/The Mac ended up headlining. Prince or Roses would be a great backup, but I'd be a wee bit gutted if it ends up being Flo, and I say that as someone who likes her.

I agree wholeheartedly with whoever it was who mentioned Chic a few pages back (not as a headliner but on the Pyramid at some point), having seen them at Wickerman two years ago they'd be perfect.

I'm also keeping my fingers crossed that we get at least one, if not both of The Chems and The Prodigy.

Counting the days to June now whatever happens, refreshing this thread repeatedly between now and then should keep me going!

You have no idea how refreshing it is to see a first time post that's not about an apparent rumour! Welcome to the fun house!

I think our eager nature of wanting an announcement is purely based on the fact that other festivals have announced bands and quite early so. Just because other festivals have announced some bands it doesn't mean Glasto has to. Glastonbury has a very unique system in ticket selling inconjunction to announcing acts. It had sold out or at least guaranteed to sell out the returned ticket in the resale. It really doesn't have to announce bands but because of the growing anticipation for the biggest and the best legendary bands over the recent years and media hype it ends up with us lot causing a riot which isn't necessarily their fault.

I believe the prodigy have ruled themselves out of Glastonbury

Completely agree about the support staff, they're only doing their job.

I just emailed saying that I love the festival and that I know it's not about the bands etc etc. However, please can they pass it on to superiors that it is incredibly frustrating paying all that money and them responding with almost complete silence regarding the lineup, the Eavis family are normally very good at communicating with ticket holders but the secrecy of it all just doesn't make sense and why can't they just release a few other names if the Sunday headliner isn't sorted yet.

I'm expecting a similar reply to what others got, but just hope whoever read it can pass it on.

Wow so i've just caught up from around 5.

To summarise from that email received by someone earlier and the change of wording on the website the line up could drop anytime between now and end of May which we all knew anyway.

I'm ignoring the glasto chat stories because that group is so full of wind up merchants and complete tools it's impossible to believe anything written. Even the guy who runs it talks out of his arse. Let's face it we'll be getting something before June.

Being optimistic.

Both people who claoim to have been told stuff by Eavis today are telling the truth, it's Eavis who ain't - he's deliberately going round telling anyone who askes a different lie, to keep everyone guessing. The website thing is just to placate peeps until after the resale.

The line up is coming in 13 days.

Would think they'd release a few names before the cut-off date for returns?

Yes, I'd put my left nut on it. Seetickets don't get paid enough by Glasto to handle mass returns. BBC will want to start negotiations and putting the coverage / ads together. The average festival attendee will return ticket choose to go to a festival with a line up announced

This thread would be much easier to read if you could create a filter that hid any post that met 3 or 4 of the following criteria:

1. mentions the Stone Rose, Oasis and/or Noel Gallagher

2. has joined in the last month

3. has less than 100 posts.

4. uses the phrase 'a friend met', 'a friend spoke to'

... And if Nigel Farage moderated that is exactly what would happen..... E R elitist Edited by SteveTLizard

Mass returns? The average festival goer returning tickets? Really? Or have I missed the irony in your post?

What. Did he actually say this? What a load of bollocks.

No, he's correct.

There are no ethical shoes out there.

None.

Not a one.

He could even wear docs. What a boob.

I have long loved Morrissey, musically. I have only slightly less long thought he is a complete tit.
