I will hold my hands up, I was far too hasty to comment on all things Manchester related when I initially started posting on the forum. I made a conscious effort to tone that down as I did not want to bore people relentlessly. But there is no link on my part between my love of Mancunian music and being troll.

Also discussions about Oasis, Noel Gallagher and The Stone Roses are perfectly valid subjects when talking about Glastonbury headliners.

Lol no problems with you mate, yours was genuine passion. The others just seem trolls, effectively stone rose spamming the boards lol.

FWIW, I wouldn't mind a Noel sub spot.

Thankfully Mani still has his swagger. You can tell he comes from the little village next to me.

He lives in Heaton Moor doesn't he?

The people I know from work who live there are all very nice, but pretty mild mannered. Not much swagger about them.

It isnt somewhere I know though really, but it seems like a pretty quiet place. Golf clubs and wine bars, a bit like West Didsbury, but with fewer twats.

I live in North Manchester. I don't often go that way on.

Really?

All those honest 50 quids raise enough to cover artist fees? I know the musicians/artists receive a fraction of what the other sponsored festivals pay but that's impressive to say the least. If so then I lay corrected.

My point was 'timing'

Some artists may desire upfront payment before putting pen to paper. Resale has yet to occur. Without substantial funds then and there...

I think thats massively oversimplifying things. I'm sure there's enough in the festival's coffers and credit limits to put together a world class line up without having to draw down all of the ticket sales as soon as the payment window closes. A non-sellout would probably hit their profit margins post festival though.

Ticket sales in October would have had to have been well short of selling out to force them to rethink the line up.

Thank you mate. I would like to think my input has raised some valid discussion even if people did not agree with my views. I would not like to be thought of a troll as I am genuinely nothing like that. I just enjoy talking about a love of music with like minded individuals.

As for Noel, he should be headlining I think. Is he not the biggest selling artist so far this year in the UK? Added to sell out arena tours and his previous number one album, never mind his back catalogue, he should be headlining if anything.

He was born and bred in Failsworth mate, his family still live there. I am from Newton Heath. Hopefully I will do the same as Mani one day and make enough money so that I can escape.

I recall Michael telling me back in late July last year that he was going back home to sign several millions of pounds worth of cheques. I presumed at the time these were to pay artists fees but in retrospect they could have been for anything. I did think it strange that he still wrote cheques rather than send payments electronically.

Most likely the charity donations

That's very offensive to ex & even current servicemen.

In what respect?? Maybe I am highlighting a serious problem which I encounter each and every day where ex servicemen are left to flounder on our streets after doing their duty. There are an awful lot people who get totally neglected by the rest of the country. They do their duty, suffer mental health issues and end up looking an absolute mess due to the conditions they have to live under.

Now I apologise if I caused you any offence but after my experience of the subject the look which the members of The Stone Roses currently have just reminded me of said subject.

I'm as frustrated as the most angry of you and as nonchalant as the rest about the line-up. Would love to know but at the same time it'll come when it comes.

Got thinking though, some people will not have completed their payments because they won't have known the line-up. While I feel for some of them because they would have discovered the essence of the festival via going due to the line-up, I can't help feeling it's going to be a good thing for the festival crowd make up. I mean wouldn't we all rather a crowd made up of people there for the full experience rather than a specific few acts? Just a thought that by not releasing the line-up you might get more general fans and a better crowd.

Then again could all be a load of crap and none of it makes any difference. I may be on my 7 time this year and trust the Eavii to put on a good show - as even with a substandard line-up it would still be the best place on earth - but I can see the view that we should know a bit more about what we have bought. Then again, the Thing (best found top of page 1020 btw) shows two years releasing something on the 14th April - which is next Tuesday. After that, irritation at the lateness is better justified.

Just gonna have to listen to ALL of music in the meantime on the off chance the bands may be there. Plenty of good stuff about!
