Take That have some good tunes. Shine is a belter.

Absolutely, Take That have a respectable catalogue of solid pop tunes. That said, they're now in their dying embers, aren't they. We're witnessing the last twitches of the Take That corpse. They're more suited to a surprise Saturday morning appearance at the Bandstand than headlining Sunday night at the Pyramid.

i was all for Take That headlining with the lot of them (including Robbie). watched their last tour DVD and it was great. put on a really good show full of great songs. but as you say, just the three of them does seem rather pathetic, so no thanks

Can't believe nobody's mentioned Take That's tour dates. Standards are slipping..

I was gonna mention them the other day when I found out it was arenas instead of stadiums and thought we've probably dodged them as a serious contender now. Not that that tour is a weak one, it's just apparent that the game has changed now there's only three of 'em.

First of all, I think Take That have had some decent tunes especially from the last stuff with Robbie, but their new song was advertised on Youtube the other day and my god was it bland. Just another overproduced pop song, to the point where it could be any other pop group singing it.

How about The Cure as potential headliners?

There are very few suggested headline acts I'd enjoy but this would be right up there for me. They were the standout at Reading '12 IMO and people that have seen them more recently say they're still on top form. Can't wait to see them next month!

I wasn't a fan before, the oh dragged me along at Bestival & was blown away. Had to see them again. Went alone for Reading (left mates that stayed in NME tent) & noticed a lot more people there just watching & the sound wasn't as good. Still very decent though.

Edit: Friday I'm In Love was epic on a Friday though, there was about 50 of us dancing in a circle.

they were fantastic at Bestival, but goddamn did i notice the omission of Pictures Of You. kept thinking 'MUST be next' and it just never came

Thats the problem with bands that have such vast histories. Have felt the same watching James, Depeche Mode and New Order over the last few years when they have not played some of my faves.

If Pictures Of You never comes, neither do I. It was quite early in a long set at Leeds, and I had to stand there in those pants.

Yeah Friday I'm In Love on a Friday was great. I almost cried when they played Pictures Of You and Push is one of the best songs I've ever seen live. Played a good few songs off Wish, could of done with some more Disintegration/Kiss Me but can't have it all.

One Hundered Years was outstanding, set length was suitably epic

I haven't seen a better festival headline set than The Cure at Leeds 2012. Sublime

Pictures of You was the highlight. Why they don't play it at every show ever is a mystery to me

Playing it at every show for 30 years, when you have a back catalogue as big as Bob's, would be a bit infuriating, regardless of how great a song it is.

Don't know if this really applies, but according to this website Kanye West is playing a festival in France in May

"But there will also be rapping with Kanye West May 4, 2015 , Soprano March 31 , and perhaps even Chris Brown."

seems to say a lot of dates for acts
