I know I'm going to get shot down for this one, but...

Are people serious about Radiohead still being headliner status? Their recent setlists practically ignore their first 3 albums which is why they're so popular. A set made up of post OK Computer material is hardly populist and although there is a hard core fan base, surely the casuals will be put off by the fairly inaccessible music, the dark mood and lack of anything resembling a song they would recognise. Do younger music fans (i.e. those who weren't into music when OK Computer came out - 18 years ago!!!) have any enthusiasm for Radiohead?

Or am I missing something?

open fire...

I think you're missing some marbles.

You are missing something, kid a and In rainbows are better then OK computer

I wouldn't deny that (I'm not that into them to have an opinion either way) but, they are hardly full of songs that are widely known outside of their fan base, which is the case with OK Computer.

Getting shot down is half the fun on here.

Yep I agree with this. Blur is too soon and Fleetwood Mac are way past it and dull as ditchwater. Their renaissance is baffling. People have just been caught up in the media hype of the reunion. 'oh they haven't played for ages they must be amazing!'

Florence and the machine would make much more sense than either, and would be much better for the festival than wheeling out another dinosaur from the past.

Which is lucky, because she'll be headlining.

or they just liked them in the 1st place, not an unheard of concept lol ;)

Reading all the latest news just thinking why is everyone going for Blur fitting Neill descriptions when there are other who would fit too...

... I'm just thinking of Macca, with contractual issues just because of his late may gigs in uk. But I'm not really sure if normal gigs would sign contractual things of this level or just festivals, 'cos if so its probably the IOW thing everybody sais. Or Roskilde exclusivity would have something to do with that?

I don't know just messing around...

To be fair most casuals only know about 2 songs so I see what Ur saying. They deliver a show tho, so easily headline status in my opinion.

"doing other shows"

Who could it be?

Perhaps it is someone that is doing other shows but they aren't being announced till a later date... Radiohead? Bowie? Reunion of Talking Heads? - it could be anyone, let your imagination go wild...

This will be an interesting few weeks!

I think you could be right and it could be someone who hasn't announced dates yet.

Also opens it up to being The Stone Roses now as they could easily announce a new album to be released in August (which has been rumoured) then sell out a Autumn/Winter UK arena tour over the next 4-6 weeks before being announced as final headliner for Glastonbury early June.

If it is FM or Blur then both are going to look a bit silly especially Mick Fleetwood telling fans of the band not to buy tickets for the festival if they are expecting to see them play.

I think its macca and here is why

Assuming Neill’s previous comments still stand and this isn’t a last minute signing he fits the criteria of being British, Male and solo with a band. The reason he hasn’t being announced sooner is due to him been a European exclusive at roskilde festival, which hasn’t yet sold out.

If this is a recent signing as it has been suggested then it could still be Macca. There was a good chance he was going to be appearing at the festival anyway, guesting for Foos and/or Kayne. If he was knocking about anyway and the 3rd headliner dropped out the eavii may have asked him to step in and the announcement is being delayed due to his euro exclusive at roskilde festival.

Hope is Macca cos:

a. I've never seen him

b. I've seen Blur so many times. Twice in Hyde Park ('09-'12), and then twice in festival tour '13 (Primavera and Sziget). And I'm so sure returning gigs of '09 would never be topped, just mindblowings!

Why would Blur want to dirty their awesome memories of Glasto '09?

This is me just being selfish ;P

Along with abba they were widely thought of as one of the naffest bands around throughout the 80s, 90s and most of 00s.

Then they appeared on glee and they became flavour of the month, and the hype escalated from there.

I've watched the whole sorry saga happen from afar with incredulous eyes.

Whether you like them or not, both of those claims have very little proof to back them up.
