admscott
I probably shouldn't have used that as my introduction to Fleetwood Mac. Or are they always that soul crushingly shite?
klipper
His current setlist is much more diverse than it was in 2004, but Roskilde (one week later) is specifically announced as "his only European festival gig this summer". Besides, I really think such an iconic slot will not be something they want to repeat: 2004 it is. Being an exclusive somewhere else or having other tickets to sell actually makes it seem more logical in this situation as Neil seems to think the third headliner was a late booking that isn't being announced till June so the act can sell other tickets and so as to not piss off other festivals who've claimed them as an exclusive (too much). This info points towards a couple of acts imo (obviously the likelihood of each of them is varied), but I think it'll be one of these: Blur Fleetwood Mac Taylor Swift Or on the less likely side: The Strokes - Madonna (doesn't she have some tickets to shift?) Anyway, that's my conclusion of what has happened today.

giantkatestacks
Good Lord, i detest Fleetword Mac. Dreadful. Macca i could countenance but you know, he's erm, not very good these days, and contary to Russy, i'm not so much interested in who he was, more about who he is now. Could he really bring the magic and knock it out the fucking park? Basically, mind, to paraphrase Stiff records, if it ain't Prince, it ain't worth a fuck Indeed but I have no more up votes left. Who would be worse though? Fleetwood Mac or The Eagles?

Spindles
Indeed but I have no more up votes left. Who would be worse though? Fleetwood Mac or The Eagles? The Eagles. At least FM have a bit of variety about them, rather then the tedium that is the eagles.

That's unanswerable, both as past it as curdled milk FM are just a money making machine nowadays, it's quite sad actually the prices they charge to go and watch some off-tune pensioners top up the trust fund Edited April 12, 2015 by Mezhyp1
Bobinup
If you'd confessed to being a fan before then most people would have roared with laughter. And if you'd confessed to being gay about 20 years ago most people would have roared with laughter, would you prefer a return to that kind of thing too? Sometimes things change and people's minds are opened for the better.
dip
Michael I think has passed comment about the lack of future headline acts. Does anyone think that this is because of the way music is available? ie. spotify, you tube and whatever else there is make it easier to move from one band to another and therefore not getting loyal fans as such? Maybe my age but still prefer to have a hard copy in my posession. Absolutely not.

russycarps
I probably shouldn't have used that as my introduction to Fleetwood Mac. Or are they always that soul crushingly shite? That's their best song sung with the disdain they feel towards the reunion. See the meet and greet pics with Mick Fleetwood to see the disdain he feels towards their fans. paulmuchmore
For purely selfish reasons, I hope it is neither Blur nor Fleetwood Mac. I'm going to IOW so would be disappointing to have duplicates! Still hoping for Taylor Swift or Prince, personally. Wouldn't really mind if it ended up being Florence either. If the rumours are true about them having to wait due to exclusivity agreements, does anyone else feel like this is quite a worrying trend, that they're struggling to get who they want without letting other festivals having priority? (https://youtu.be/um7iNmIJ0tU?t=38s) Still, unlikely for Glastonbury 2015, knowing his tour announcements and schemes a bit. [..] Yes, that's true, even more so since Firefly in the US was an all summer US exclusive for McCartney, the festival even had banners on their website with that statement. And then Lollapalooza got announced.

On the flip side, I want duplicates with Sziget (Which I'm going to) so that I can free myself up on some of the nights at Glasto to see someone different! It's a sloppy comparison but I can see the point they're trying to make. Music is far less tribal than in the past, which is a good thing. greenArmy12
This would also apply to Blur if what Neil heard about the act only being booked very recently is codswallop. God fleetwood fans were so fucking persecuted back in the day, i mean they couldn't be acknowledged in schools, they faced persistent discrimination and they couldn't even get married. So happy that people's minds are more open now.

Pink_Tequila
Did we allow gays into Glastonbury in 1994 or were they excluded? I seem to remember Fleetwood Mac fans were stopped when buying tickets and laughed at, that usually put them off.
