Blur would hardly be an inspired booking though would it? That's the only issue i'll have personally if they play.

A bump up for Florence/Foals etc would at be a risky, but it's a great opportunity to propel these acts to the next level.

Blur are just a safe booking. In 09 it was a real coup for the festival, but they've toured a fair bit since and released a mediocre new album and them headlining this year will create nowhere near as much buzz.

Only released a couple of singles from it

If it is true that someone let them down last week then who excatly are they going to book?

Bumping up is OK but would get far more people complaining.................... at very short notice Blur would be a great booking.

the album hasn't been released or leaked yet - how do you know it's mediocre?

Only released a couple of singles from it

It is nothing amazing, some is very Solo Albarn and similar to everyday robots.................. it is growing on me though, slowly............ but it is growing.

that's not their album - that's a fake album that's a collection of b-sides and Damon solo stuff

edit: i'm assuming. i know a fake one leaked a while back and have seen no info of the real one leaking

edit again: in fact yep, that's the fake one. i can tell by the song lengths. did you not realise that the three songs they've released weren't the same on the album?

Is it the album? Find it odd that they can sell it for a gentlemans 96 cents before it's officially released

Are you certain of this - the track titles all seem to match with the reviews of it

I know it is a long shot but could it be foals if it is someone who has to step in, sure they wouldnt turn it down. Would fit with Emily saying about 'bumping up acts'

I know there new album is not out yet and that they may not have the hits and most people will probably think its a bit to early for them.

Would be an intresting choice and also nice to give a band who has not done anything this big before a chance which is something festivals tend to lack.

I am probably very wrong though.

This is very similar to my feelings on Blur. I was there in 2009 and it was magical so booking them again would be such a safe, uninspired booking. What would make this years set stand out from 2009, a few new songs wouldn't cut it for me.

If someone has pulled out just bump a first time headliner and announce everything on Wednesday.

The longer they leave it without announcing the third headliner the more peoples expectations are risen expecting the likes of Prince, FM, Bowie ect, Blur would be hell of a let down if they were announced mid June.

I personally still think its Prince and Neil has been asked to lower our expectations of it being the wacky purple bastard.

I don't think I've ever heard a Foals song in my life. Are they good? Big enough to headline? Worth a watch?

Neil's info is that they have to hold back the announcement until June - there'd be no reason to do this with these acts, they'd be announced straight away, so if the info is correct, it's gotta be a big act with some contractual stuff / other shows going on preventing them from being announced asap

not sure about the Neil thing but i'm still clinging on to some hope that it's him and Neil has just been given some duff info (either by accident or as misdirection)

I DO know that it's accurate to say that whoever the 3rd headliner is, the fact of them having other shows is what is holding the announcement back until June.

So that seemingly rules out Prince, and others.

I'm still sticking with Prince (against all logic)

Rumoured to be in London in June for a run of gigs, just waiting for him to announce.

If anyone fancies a listen to the new Blur album you can find it here:

http://melodysale.com/the-magic-whip-blur/release_776981.html

Some of it is rather, erm, dull.............. and not like Blur. More like Damon's solo stuff.

First two listens I will say I hated it........ but there are some tracks starting to get in my head now though overall I am still a bit 'meh' about it - more to do with expectations though than content.

Most of it is Damon and Coxon's solo stuff with a few Gorillaz B-Sides, its a fake leak that "leaked" a week or so ago

Edit: just caught up and its already been said
