To think that last year we had Enter Sandman and this year we may be presented with this tosh ?!?!?

I think they could be shooting themselves in the foot when (if as expected) the line up comes out tomorrow with a TBA as 3rd headliner.

Us lot on here seem to accept the fact that it's a late booking as talks have obviously fallen through with their main target .. But the vast majority of festival goers and the outside public will be expecting a huge act due to the TBA. I know I would if I didn't read this forum.

I know gigwise will be saying ridiculous like Prince, Daft Punk and Bowie then NME or something will get hold of it, then when the announcement comes out it will be Florence

I'm not remotely a fan of the Libertines, but I always thought that a big part of their appeal was the fan culture that they fostered - the whole good ship albion thing certainly made them and their fans seem far more special than their contemporaries. How sad that they are now simply in it for the cash. I found the idea that they had a gold circle at their recent Hyde Park shows particularly depressing.

I was taking it on hearsay, but thought they had the gold circle thing going at the front / a bit to the side.

Not all Hyde Park shows have this set-up. I saw Springsteen, Pearl Jam and Stevie Wonder there, and no golden circle - other than a special enclosure quite a way back and no hindrance to getting into the pit.

That said, I loathe Hyde Park as a venue - I will never see a band there again. Ever.

That Metallica set was painful though. And I say that as someone who genuinely went into the gig with a positive mindset.

Probably wasn't helped by having 15 odd guys who looked liked they'd just finished their finals constantly shouting "You know nothing John Snow" between and during songs.

Bad few hours.

Does it? I was obsessed with Simon & Garfunkel when I was 3 because it was all my parents ever played, I wouldn't say Swift is quite as good as them, very nearly, though.

I was there, and I thought it was incredible. One of my best Glasto memories.

To be fair, though, I was right on the front barrier, and I had wanted to see Metallica since the past.

I thought it was great craic and a good gig.

I'm not a big fan and wasn't even sure I'd go until the day itself but I'm glad I did.

Blur are on Jools Holland tonight/Friday for anyone interested, along with Laura Marling, The Vaccines, Natalie Prass and a few more.

Also, not sure if this has been posted already or not, but the new Blur album is receiving a lot of positive reviews in the music press.

That said, it wasn't particularly well attended (as expected) so can't see Eavis rushing to book another heavy headliner.

Seen Metallica a number of times and as a fan was great to see them on the pyramid stage was a brilliant show.

No but does it really matter that much?

I don't think it would have been obvious on TV that the crowd was smaller for either of those sets, and at the end of the day, it means more people attending all the other areas that traditionally would see very few people at those times.

I think it's a win-win, although you may well be right about the next metal act headlining, which would be a pity.

I think Metallica at glasto was the best out of the 5 times I've seen them.

I would of chucked in a couple more off Justice but overall they were mint.
