No you're right, you just badly worded your original post ;)

There are loads of "smash hits poll winners party" type acts on that poster that are a complete load of shit.

But when we see the full line up they will be diluted hopefully but many more good acts.

It's just a sign of the times. As more c**ts attend the festival, there will be more acts booked that appeal to c**ts.

How long have you been going Russy ?

Is there a reason why Ed Sheerans not been mentioned (forgive me but I've not been back through the whole thread)? I know he's over in the USA around then but he's got a couple of dates free potentially for Glastonbury. Don't get me wrong I don't want to see him, but with Foos, Kanye and Sheeran it'd be a pretty strong line up.

It's definitely not Ed Sheeran, there's no need for him to be speculated my friend

Think it's possibly more to do with the fact that seeing acts play live is more popular than its been across the board genre-wise than 10 or 20 years ago when really it was stadium sized pop acts or rock and indie bands that people turned out for. Bands the ilk of Rudimental or Clean Bandit didn't have much of a following when it came to touring a few years back but now live music is not something restricted to rock and roll. Less to do with more c**t acts for more c**t punters and more to do with times changing. In any case, Glastonbury has always been fairly broad when it comes to the acts it showcases so it's not all that different.

i think 'special guests' rules out a solo artist - particularly sheeran who performs without any band.

plus he played pyramid last year with the same album and is in the states over the weekend.

Like numerous others, he was mentioned and people quickly moved on because they don't want him to play.

They're right too

Because it's not in any way realsitic - the logistics would be completely mental. It'd be a much tighter schedule and longer journey than when U2 came over in the middle of their US tour - and they had the benefit of already having a private jet.

Basically - using commercial flights, it'd be achievable but exhausting, with very little leeway if something goes wrong or gets delayed.

Using a Private Jet it'd be more achievable but still problematic, not to mention hideously expensive.

Question - why have we been saying Macca is a possibility?

We know he's exclusive to Roskilde, and that festival is 27th June to the 4th of July. Glasto weekend is the 26th to the 28th (with gates open and booklets handed out on Wednesday 24th).

Doesn't the exclusivity rule mean an announcement can't be made at Glasto until the other performance? Does this not rule out Paul?

He has gigs in the UK at the end of May, the shows he wants to delay the announcement for could be those :)

Trouble is, we have no idea what "exclusive" means and the term has been so casually abused over the past few years, by various festivals, that it can no longer be taken at face value.

The exact wording on their web site is "His only European festival gig this summer." - That claim was true when it was made, but do they actually have a contract stating that he can't add more shows?

do no acts consider the benefit of playing as headliner might actually help sales of their big UK shows, whether they are before or after the festival?

particularly thinking of acts like Blur, Madonna, Macca where UK shows aren't considered to be selling that fast (due to massively high ticket prices this year IMO)

there are millions of people who aren't going to glastonbury who might see a headliner announcement and buy tour tickets off the back of it. surely there won't be that many tickets in the resale either...

If Flo doesn't get bumped up and Prince really is not happening then (big moon on poster making people think it's Pink Floyd, which would be nice, aside), it's going to be Blur isn't it. Hope so but also happy to be both very wrong and very surprised.

Still really can't see it being Blur no matter how hard I try. I know why people are thinking that but it being Damon's 3rd headline slot in 6 years, Dave ruling it out and their website saying 'that concludes Blur's UK festival slots this year' just screams to me it isn't them. I would take them though.
