Bisque
I love pyramid headliners! I saw 2 in 2009 and 2008. All 3 in 2003. There havent been many years where I havent seen 1 at all. 2007 I didnt. Didn't you accidently see Jessie J as well?

It's not a fact of you not loving pyramid headliners, but even if all three don't take your fancy would you try one out at least?
Winslow Leach
He 'accidentally' stayed in the field for an hour too. Damn it, all my upvotes for the day are gone...
mr gumby
the majority of people that go to glastonbury would prefer -FF,coldplay,beyonce,taylor swift,muse,U2 over -sigur ros, radiohead, neil young... not saying thats right or not or what my point is, but there you go.. I would suggest you need to replace 'the majority of people who go to glastonbury' with 'the majority of people who go to glastonbury, and spend the whole weekend camped in front of the pyramid stage'. Lubic
2011 was absolute bollocks. Wouldn't have gone near any of those headliners. Woah woah woah. In 2011 I saw Biffy, Radiohead, U2, Pulp, Coldplay, and QOTSA all in prominent positions. Outstanding by any festival's standards. (I know you were talking specifically headliners, but 2011 was my first so I get very defensive about it!)

klipper
Does Foo Fighters, Taylor Swift and Noel Gallagher seem like a reasonable prediction at this point in time. Part of me hope's so, I've always preferred smaller stages at most festivals and figure i'll be the same at glasto so hopefully I won't be conflicted by a personal-favourite headliner... Tuna
NGHFB doesn't seem like a very obvious headliner at this point in time, but it wouldn't be a stupid idea. They're not the size of FF and TS but in promoting someone like that, they definitely open the door to a lot of mid-higher sized bands to headline in the future, which is a smart move considering we all know the headliner pool has dried up, given the corner Glastonbury have backed themselves into. Matt42
Foo Fighters Fleetwood Mac OR AC/DC Taylor Swift I'm still not sold that Fleetwood are out of the running, their dates are too suspicious
FloorFiller
can't see NGHFB headlining Glasto. just doesn't seem right for me. maybe TITP, or a very strong sub (once he's announced for one UK fest we'll be able to gage what positions he's getting i suppose)

Rose-Colored Boy
I still say Adele are more likely than AC/DC. Still think the act Peter Mensch discussed with ME was Muse although Download obviously means that's less likely

In this country and certainly with Glasto crowds I'd say he's bigger than Taylor Swift. I think a festival could well grab him to headline unless it's more worthwhile to sub four or five fests, I dunno.
Mardy
NGHFB is the most conservative, dull and uninspired booking I can think of. I'm no fan of the foos, or muse or anybody else, but if you're going to go for a mid-level band who youthink should step up, Hot Chip or Foals or whoever are a million times more exciting and relevant. Gucci Piggy
I'll never understand people hoping for a headliner they don't like so that they can have a night away from the Pyramid, exploring other areas. If you're hoping that happens, then surely you'd rather spend the night exploring than seeing that band? So why not just go explore anyway and miss them? Mezhyp1
Article on NME there from a Dave Grohl interview quoting him saying they aren't booked for glastonbury yet, and going on what the eavis' said maybe they aren't booked? Maybe

Maybe more likely he didn't want to leak that they're playing so saying they haven't been booked yet is the easiest way to dodge the question
Purple aki squat
Friday- stone roses. Saturday- fleetwood Mac Sunday- take that Roses owe the festival one and suspect they'd do it. Mac- waiting to flog tickets for their own shows before saying yes Take that- they'd just want the media coverage and seem like a Sunday sort headliner now. Just really want the Roses tbh, bollocks to anyone else.

Eh I'd disagree but there's no real way to quantify it. Either way I am all for the idea of a smaller headliner to pave the way for the future. As mentioned before, Hot Chip and Sigur Ros would be belting.

There are so many acts due to be touring new albums this summer, if anyone "owes" the fest a favour then they can fulfill that favour by filling in a gap in a quieter year. If you're hoping that happens, then surely you'd rather spend the night exploring than seeing that band? So why not just go explore anyway and miss them? Because if they're someone you love you won't be able to resist going to see them anyway. And then you get to the end of the festival and realise you've spent a big chunk of your time at the Pyramid, rather than getting a nice balanced Glastonbury diet. Or if you ignored them, there's bound to be a moment when you're elsewhere, and maybe it's not the absolutely most drop dead amazing thing ever (just for a second, you understand, fellow Glastobaters), and your mind wanders to what's happening on the Pyramid, and you think DAMN. It's just nicer to have that taken away. No regrets.
donthaveacoolname
is it not time to see a dance act back on the headline, long time since the Chems in 2000 (and the Basemant Jaxx in '05 but they were in as a fill in for Kylie) but even still that's 9 years since a dance act, any thoughts?
