Stokesy10
Man, please be fucking Blur! Has anyone suggested The Strokes? I have not seen them mentioned, sorry if it has! I'd be very happy with Blur. Very. But, I'd be fucking ecstatic with The Strokes. There's no chance though really. One of my favourite bands ever, but I don't think they'd be received well as a Sunday headliner. His voice isn't great if he doesn't concentrate on it or make the effort! My guess is Blur or FM, as is many folks.
neil999
just noticed something else about glasto/IOW line up, pharrel is the only shared announced main act between the 2, I bet a few more are shared I wonder if this is an agreement too? In fairness, Glasto had one of the co-headers if you like and one of the subs last year already and they have the other sub in Pharrell this year. They can't just be identical. Jessie Ware is playing both, Courteeners could still be announced and could Counting Crows although Im not fussed, Jame Bay will still be announced. Ash is still possible, The Charlatans are still to come. The only thing annoying with Glasto is that so many of the more noticeable names to see bloody clash! Possibly there could have been, but it then wouldn't make any sense to just announce Pharrell (and Jessie Ware too)? A few from Iow will be at Glastonbury i'm sure (Courteeners, James Bay, Charlatans etc), so not too sure why they didnt make it onto the initial poster. FrancisH
Can anybody else find the festival exclusive mention on the IOW website? Maybe I'm just being stupid / probably already been mentioned on this thread (can't keep up)... Just weird how they made a big song and dance and now it's (potentially) not even being mentioned anymore.

Mash011
As evidence against Fleetwood Mac, I think the 'He's definitely British, but the band are not British any more' quote from ages ago suggests they were in the running back then (founding members all British but not any more, eponymous front man), but since we know the agreement was made very recently I think that suggests it probably isn't them - that they were in negotiations but those fell through. But this is coming from a big time Blur fan so maybe I'm just seeing things how I want to see them.

One of my favourite bands ever, but I don't think they'd be received well as a Sunday headliner. They're playing in Hyde Park the week before Glastonbury, I'm sure tickets are still available. Admittedly I only made the plunge because Beck is playing before them. (And he wasn't on the Glasto bill, wtf Emily)

But this is coming from a big time Blur fan so maybe I'm just seeing things how I want to see them. I think you must be right on that one. People read far too much into Eavis' comments, the band he referred to was either AC/DC or Fleetwood Mac, but they've slipped through the net and they don't have them anymore. Remember "the three biggest bands who have never played?" well Metallica fit the bill, but Arcade Fire and Kasabian have both played before and aren't as big as Eavis suggested, what he says at the end of one year's fest will probably not have stuck by the time the next one rolls around. I think we definitely have several more 'household names' to be revealed. Whether one of them is Beck or not, I don't know. But I think the full lineup reveal is going to have additions people will be excited about, not just little stuff.
MEGABOWL
He more recently stated that someone told him Eavis gave FM to Giddings... apparently. He did. It would also fit with Giddings saying a few weeks back that 'Getting Fleetwood Mac is great, but you can't one up Glastonbury'
