Just don't see it being Madonna. A Madge production would be at considerable cost (more than the fest would pay) that I would guess wouldn't be financially viable as a one-off so far away from her tour or so late after album launch. Also 'Special Guests' implies a band to me.

FWIW I think Madonna would nail it, she's savvy enough to know what a big deal it was & adjust the set accordingly.

How many acts does everybody think are still to be added that will be 3rd down or higher on the biggest 3 or 4 stages?

Still hoping for a some big names to added - think that poster is missing a few good names.

I reckon we've got at least one 3rd down on the Pyramid acts to come (Van Morrison) and probably a sub/3rd down act on the Other stage. Not too sure about the others but I guess there will be at least a couple of acts for West Holts, Park and JP that will end up in the top 3 on those stages.

Didn't Dave and Krist get together with Macca to do some Nirvana stuff a little while ago?

So..... Macca will join headliners Foos on Friday for some Nirvanafication, then he'll be with Kanye & Rihanna on the Saturday headline for Four Five Seconds, *and then* headline on the Sunday in his own right! He'll even have Ringo on as a guest to celebrate just inducting him in the RnR Hall of Fame. And ANOTHER Glasto in a row will finish with a massive With A Little Help From My Friends!

It's just about perfect...

Ive just lookd at the line up for 2004 and there were good acts on almost every other stage that night. Why were you all watching oasis???

I was at Oasis in 2004 because I was a fan at the time. If anything that was the night I wised up to them. In 15 years of festival king it was one of the worst headline performances I've ever seen.

Over the years I've seen them 7-8 times, their performances have ranged from good (Manchester Apollo 2001) to dire (Wembley 00, Glasto 04) to downright farcical (Heaton Park 09 - the night the generator blew).

Can't see another Glastonbury set going well.

11 missing off last year's first poster.

really that many? surprised by that. i'm also so forgetful concerning the previous years lineup announcements so always assume we had all of the top few from the main stages in the initial announcement. might still have a few fairly big names coming then (and maybe even a stage headliner or two)

Yeah, someone did the research. Kaisers weren't on the first poster last year, and they headlined John Peel (though all JP headliners are on the poster this year.)

This marvellous post by Andeeroo lists all the acts for the major stages that weren't on the first poster for last year - we've got absolutely loads of good stuff to come:

ah that is exciting - reckon we've definitely got a Other sub yet to come and if they stick to a similar pattern as last year then a fair few high up acts as well. good stuff

What makes you say this? Rowntree's quote that may well have been from before they were booked?

Dave Rowntree on XFM said they're not headlining (didn't say they weren't *playing* though...)

But OK it was March.... but the Blur thread here seems very convinced it's not going to be them

Neil seems to think that the headliner was a late booking, and so anything said by any act before about two weeks ago could be considered null and void due to this. as i said earlier - i'd find it odd if any band now lined up to headline didn't have some inkling that they were in the pipeline, making Dave's pretty blunt 'no' seem odd, but who knows? maybe Glastonbury were in a panic, and asked Albarn for another headliner favour

Ah well, as per the map, it's all opened up and all to play for again.... as you were!! :)

That is from before the latest info.

Also, if Blur are not allowed to say they are playing due to BST ticket sales they are not going to say they are playing -- which is the same of any in that situation (which this apparently is).
