I know I've used them as a joke to go back to now and again, but surely you could excuse Eavis and the Mac for lying if they were indeed the third band, so as to make sure that the exclusivity thing isn't tarnished with even the slightest hint of a clue.

Would also go hand in hand with Glasto "giving" Fleetwood Mac. They'd be happy to tell a wee lie to keep IOW happy, and would explain why they'd confirm after the festival itself.

Mick Fleetwood's outright denial of them playing would be a pretty devious move if this is the case (and i believe Neil said that Eavis had told him quite recently that it wasn't them). plus there's the three nights on the trot thing

Not sure devious would be a fair assessment. Certainly can't see a problem with it myself. Who would it be hurting?

In this situation, any outright denial would make sense, and could easily be forgiven. The only problem with an Eavis denial is that then you have trust issues. That's the one thing turning me away from this idea. But I'm thinking my joke go to is actually the headliner.

it may well have been mentioned a dozen times here already but just been looking at the line up page and just noticed the picture at the top is of glastonbury tor with a full moon behind it and the moon image is of the far side or dark side of the moon!

red hering maybe :?

it would be hurting the people who have gone to IOW especially for Fleetwood Mac (which i imagine is a fair few) instead of Glastonbury (or even as well as). it could well be them despite this, but the three nights thing still makes them seem pretty unlikely imo

Really don't think he'd word it the way he did if denying their headlining was part of some devious scheme. Was something like 'I don't want our fans to buy tickets expecting us and be disappointed', seems downright mean to the fans to put it like that if he knew he was playing. If it is Fleetwood, they will have been booked after that was said.

But of course it's not them, it's Blur.

Fair point that I guess.

Have to admit that - whoever the 3rd headliner is - GFL have done a great job of keeping it under wraps so far.

yep, surprisingly so, although if the latest info is true then it could well be because they didn't have anybody locked down until very recently, for better or for worse

I would imagine that huge bags stuffed full of sterling would do wonders for 3rd night tiredness syndrome.

I hope it's Radiohead.

2 weeks ago Thom Yorke came into my coffee shop & I asked him if they were the 3rd headliner, he said they're not, and that the sound off the pyramid isn't good enough for them to consider playing (I did say that on here at the time).

Seriously? Even U2 played and they never step out their tour comfort zone. Guess the days of radiohead at festivals are over then! Can't get much better than the pyramid

Aww dang, appreciate Thom Yorke being straight up. Hope he changes his mind.

Fuck what a band. Only really getting deep into their albums now, but binge listened to The Bends (which was awesome stoned btw) this week and reckon it destroys most of the other big 90s Brit pop albums.

If he comes back, ask if he fancies playing in my bathroom. Great acoustics.

I mean if they are actually the final headliner i doubt they would actually just say it to someone he barely know right?

And the pyramid stage not good enough seems like a cheeky banter to me? They played at the park in 2011. I doubt the quality from that stage is anywhere near the pyramid stage
