Here's a suggestion. Ignore everything Eavis has said.

I have taken to doing that recently, usually clues he gives back in October/November turn out to be bollocks but this one from last night is worrying as it is so close to the festival!

Long time lurker, hi all - Although almost every name available has been mentioned on here previously, this Chris Martin led group does seem to carry the most weight for me.

Would explain the earlier Taylor Swift heavy rumours, as her and CM are close and she would conceivably join forces for this (and here on the Sat). Also ties in with the 'he's british but band not british any more' quotes.

Also ties in with the big Coldplay rumours where they were almost a TBC.

Clearly arranging something like this would take time, makes sense for the delay as likely some of the participants will be selling their own shows.

I'm not overly worried right or wrong given the lineup is a goodun imo - but after reading this forum for the past month or so, I think this is it.

So because someone on Glasto chat Facebook, probably the least reliable source of info on the internet barring random people on twitter, said they met Michael and he said Chris Martin was involved in the last headliner, people are now discussing No Doubt headlining?

This is the biggest load of bollocks since Emili Sande.

It's more to do with the fact that it chimes with was Neil was previously told about Coldplay headlining from what he described as a usually excellent source.

Here's another. Don't.

Michael has always been a canny business man and excelled at playing the media, local politics and so on. The image that has developed recently on this forum of Michael as being some kind of bumbling fool with no insight is likely to be far from the truth.

*edit*

edited to say that comes across as a bit harsh and aggressive, I assure you it's not meant to.

To be fair, I've not seen that a lot, on the contrary it seems most people think he's clearly not a bumbling fool but actually pretty on the ball and canny about the line up and intentionally leading people astray or just plain old having a laugh by making up rumours.

The logistics of trying squeeze what is usually an all day event into a two hour set make no sense either. How much time would be wasted getting performers on & off stage, introducing them, etc? There wouldn't be much time for actual music.

Maybe it's going to be a longer slot than just the usual two hours, with Alt-J in effect playing third down (as they should be) in terms of time slot.

- it doesn't tie in with "the band aren't anymore", as there is neither a band, nor at any time were they british.

- an all-star charity gig where they might get to play a couple of their own songs will have no impact whatsoever on an act's on shows.

This is the same facebook group where someone (one of the admin I believe) said there would be no announcement for ages then we had one later that week...

When this gets mentioned, I do feel like it might be a case of throwing the baby out with the bathwater though.

A few people on there have divulged information which has later proved correct. And the lady who made the statement was pictured with Michael Eavis.

Also this particular rumour has additionally come from members of this very thread.

I'm not saying this makes any of it true, but with the amount of bullshit spouted on this very forum on a daily basis, I wouldn't say the Facebook group is any less legit than some of the stuff you read on here.

The supergroup thing might be true but how would it fit in with the Coldplay info AND the info it was a last minute booking? The Coldplay info was ages ago.

Why wouldnt they when the festival owner has spoken about it?

allegedly spoken about it. he didn't say it on stage, this is all hearsay from a mate texting someone after apparently getting a photo with him....

we've had plenty of nonsense from him via people taking photos with him before, assuming that this person at the V&A is telling the truth...

It would I think with Glastonbury's support of Make Poverty History in the past, this is my line of thinking too

Not sure, but think you've all gone mental.

  • If it is some sort of supergroup... what other shows are they currently promoting? Why the delay?
  • If the Coldplay info a few months ago was reliable, how does that fit with a recent booking?
Basically nobody has a clue. 2+2=4005

I also think the act(s) could also be the French headliner, meaning they can't be announced before that line-up - that';s why Glastonbury's hands are tied.

Neil and Scott are actually running an article on this?? :Ohttp://po.st/FTg00h

We are yes as this is the strongest clue yet of who the headliners are, and puts us back on track too. Plus it puts to bed the bookies shit guesses and half the tabloids guesses of acts playing on the Sunday like AC/DC and Muse, who have dates elsewhere.

i'm not sure speculation based otherwise unreported comments from Michael Eavis according to a friend of someone who posted here is really much better than tabloid bollocks either.

perhaps it's not a last minute thing, Emily did say they hadn't been after Prince, perhaps the fact the headliner is playing elsewhere is a major reason they can't announce. On the basis of Martin's involvement I think it's the Global Earth gig in Paris, and the act could be anyone, however the fact No Doubt have not been announced foe any European festivals but have them planned suggests they are likely too.

Neil's said the source said Coldplay, but as it was just rumour and gossip that could have meant Chris Martin - ME suggests that Martin is involved in the booking, not necessarily player - all of which ties in with this Global Citizen stuff.

It could very well all be coincidence but my point was that it's wrong to dismiss it on the 'facebook chat' factor alone.
