if it is a 'get a bunch of musicians together' thing, i hope it's a one-off because of an inability to book a vialbe headliner this year and not seen as "wow...that worked...why don't we just do something like that every sunday to finish off and call it the 'sunday collaboration/sunday jam' headliner because the BBC and the Pilton daytrippers will love it along with the sunday tea legend slot... instead of trying to get Prince"... not just because we all want Prince as headliner on Sunday in '16 mind you....

so biggest revelation on here really is that as we all suspected, Coldplay were to be the 'special guests' that Kasabian ended up being announced as pre-Springsteen in '09. Curious if Neil - now that he's let the basics out of the bag - has additional insight how that was initiated as a possibility, if it was something that Chris Martin asked for, volunteered his band for, since he was the one who explained the significance of Glasto to the Boss, whether it was ever discussed btw them as "we'll even play before you", etc...if it was part of the sell to the Springsteen camp?

wasn't it longer ago than that?

Anyway, I heard nothing about any persuading other bands, or how exactly it came about - tho I think there might be press articles around the time quoting Michael saying the band approached the festival - only that they were the band who would have been the 4th headliner, and that they'd decided they couldn't do it because of the other shows they had (with an implication of more tickets needing to be sold, that doing Glastonbury might have reduced).

This was told to me by one of the senior bookers, because, he sad, he wanted to get the info out that the 4th headliner wasn't happening after all, so expectations were managed and people weren't disappointed.

So it has to be Rhianna right?

She did a record with Coldplay. Chris Martin will guest in her set.

She is also on tour with Kanye, so this would not interrupt their schedule together. I bet they sold it to Eavis as a package. Kanye + Rhiannah and loads of special guests. (chris martin / paul macartney)

Kanye and Rihanna are definitely touring together in 2015

Rihanna co-headlining with Paul McCartney crossed my mind. Kanye could come on for that Four Five Seconds song too.

Am I the only one loving all this speculation and don't mind at all that we don't know who the sunday headliner will be ?

Collaberation - excellent - a one off, never to be repeated, why not and raises awareness of the cause all around the world via the BBC - seems perfect for the festival. Rewriting the headliner 'rules' - why not.

Is this the most confusing year for one of the headliners ever :-)

Plus Eavis has said that Chris Martin is involved (NOT Coldplay). Chris did the record with her that I posted above. Prime guest slot.
